ROTJ E-11 Builds

I went and polished the parts today. The aluminum too well to light sanding ax very easy to polish. The steel is much more difficult and will require a higher grit, but so far looking good.

Gorgeous! Those are superb items you have. Did you assemble the blaster yourself or purchase it as is? Same question for the helmet.

Thanks. Helmet was bought as is. The e-11 seller said it was from an RPF run many years before and had a resin scope rail and scope so I got an FM scope and purchased a 3D printed steel rail on shapeways a few years ago. It’s now one of my favorite replicas.

Scope bell and cap have arrived

I assembled one of the new scopes I had printed and attached it to the rail. The front sight piece is temporarily affixed to the rail as well. So far I think the placement looks right.

I am using TDH9791’s awesome scope tip at the front of the scope.

I want to say the original was aluminum or some found part and they cast the rail for duplicates. The scopes look like White Acetal or Delrin, so you're right on the money there

They must have used both black and white acetal. I think this photo is one of the few instances that we see a scope are of white plastic. As for your thoughts on the rail, I’m not quite sure. Most of the photos I have seen of the rail, the areas where the paint has flaked appears to be metal. As for it being casted, I do not believe so; but it would be interesting to hear what others have to say.

Oh I just meant those rails look cast plastic, yea I’ve seen most rails as metal.

Also I momentarily forgot all the e-11s with black scope material!

I still want to know what was used for the front cap. Looking closely, it has a bit of a flare to it. It’s not perfectly straight like a cylinder. I have scoured the internet and eBay for vintage film canisters and I still have not found any that made me go “ah ha!”

The Tresemme travel size hairspray cap is still the best substitute for the original plastic caps (which were also from spray cans).
They're just a little tall.
