ROTJ detonator charges

Apologies for my crappy photos, but three months later I was finally able to finish this up.

Again, this is 100% printed, painted with imperial surface Alumaluster, and then painted with Archive X. The idea was to idealize the bomb a bit with a “metal” base instead of paint chipping down to orange.

I do have another one printed out that I’ll try to paint more accurately with an orange base. Who knows when though.

Hope you folks dig it.

Yes! I've known it for quite a while now. I can now proudly say that my replica kits (still available) are so accurate the design doesn't need to be updated. For example: the diameter of the Kango part measures 82.7mm and on mine: 83.1mm. Not bad!

Wasn’t lucky enough to get a proper orange one, but I can live with the off white/beige. At some point I may mold one of these and cast them in the correct orange since they are the same exact shape and size.

I scored these two as spare parts on eBay quite a while back. And I may have snuck one into my photos above to be a bit cheeky haha

So the openings in the sides are for the brush assemblies? (If this 627 diagram is similar enough)

Sweet! I doubt I'll find one of these hammer drills, so I'll probably settle for an accurate replica using the dimensions. I'm surprised because I kind of thought this one might be a thing that would never be figured out!

This is an amazing find. Roy's kits, being as superb as they are, are a huge help for the community - I mean, who among us would normally buy a breaker drill at an estate sale?! they're super hard to find and that's okay! It's a great looking part, no wonder they used it

amazing find, this is one of my dream props and been searching out actual parts for awhile now. Love that its so close to being complete

Something tells me something else in the drill is used.. why gut it without any clues!

The way it was explained to me with most of these parts and most of the props is that they simply went to industrial surplus stores and bought various items that were there that they thought would be useful in building various props.

If you are not aware of what industrial surplus is or why items become industrial surplus, read this:

So basically there is a high chance that the prop makers don't even know what the original item is/was used for.

Dang, I meant people today identifying parts, like why crack open that drill in 2021 - but as for sourcing back then... that helps explain that as well, thank you!
