ROS Leia Organa saber

the entire thing looks custom machined from the gate...are you guessing they used found parts?
No. But I suspect they machined parts to mimic other some generalized structures.

i am now leaning towards a cross between both an impeller AND a cog... in other words: helical cut cog with teeth on the thin side

To clarify... and this is very difficult because limited photos and not super high fidelity.. but I think what is going on on the inside of that windvane shroud is this:

based on what I am seeing at the right angle from the front it looks like a cog... and from the rear it mimics the almost impeller look we see. I think this could be the likely structure of what is going on in there.

could be wrong but best I can make out based on available references.

it seems to sort of fit:

Ok so here is a question.... in some of the photos the windvane looks to be an impeller / fan like the Mk1 but in the one from the front it actually looks like a cog.

i really wish we had some better photos.

what do people think on this?

I see cog, but then that could just be a compare / contrast trick of my eyes because of the "cog teeth" on the underside of the emitter. TLDR: No idea.

If it's custom made, and not a fine detail for a hero shot, I'd imagine they'd keep it as simple as possible.

Yeah. I'd assume, barring better info, that the cuts are straight all the way though. Its probably a simple cog or "waterwheel" shape.

I totally forgot she had them both on her belt.. wonder how it’s hooked on?!

Actually the large D ring at the back is pretty obvious in a few photos.

probably a clip at the top of her belt...?

Yes, but it doesn't look like it's in use on that "2 on a belt" grab - at least to me. Artistic licence no doubt.

this is true, however I can't see evidence of the ST style clip on Leia's saber.

the belt could have a hook at the top of the belt which may have the saber sit that high.

(alternatively we also could be looking at a stunt Vs a hero prop. Note the different color to the emitter and also seemingly absent inlaying between the grip flutes). I am not sure they are actually the same prop but instead some sort of resin stunt or something?)

of course. The on-the-belt photo is super blurry so who knows.

I doubt it, it just looked that way in the grab (to me) and I was ready to believe it because of the new belt clip design notch on the ANH Luke.
There are plenty of ways to produce that effect using the d-ring. A stiffer hook type thing at the top of her belt as one example.

but... I don't think it is even the same prop. I think we are seeing stunt vs hero happening here. The biggest tells to me are the apparent lack of pearl inlay and the contrasting color on the emitter (though that could be a trick of the lighting)

Dont shoot me, just interesting some of the design choices that were made here...to be first to market?
