Roman's MK1 Wind-Vane

I have a Roman's MK1 (weathered) and I love it. The wind-vane is black in color, but I've seen it in a brass version and I love the look and would like to replicate it. I know Roman sells a brass version, but its half the price of a new saber :-(

Wondering if anyone has tried removing the black finish? Any chance it's brass underneath?

Alternatively, does anyone else sell a piece that will thread onto the MK1 (that doesn't cost $95)?

Have you tried steel wool and buffed it down?

They’re all brass. I’ve removed the black/weathered coating on one without any issue.

I haven't tried steel wool yet, but that was the plan. I was wondering if anyone knows what's under there before I do.

I used some fine steel wool on mine, and it takes it down to nice weathered brass look. Can post photos if you want to see what it ends up looking like...

If you wanted a more long winded method you can boil 50/50 brown vinegar and water, take it off the heat and pop the neck in for 10 mins. Use a cloth and any aging will wipe off.
