ROMANCING THE STONE / Joan Wilder Writer Of The Year Certificate.

In an early scene in the movie there is a brief shot of a WaldenBooks Writer of the Year certificate in Joan Wilder's apt...Am wondering if anyone has this to share or who is good at replicating something like this to please do so. I have RelicMaker's emerald and map...the book covers and sailboat photo...this would be a great finishing touch.

And on a friendly note: I can not express how much I love this site...especially the paper props...I can not stand plain white walls and from this site and a few other resources I've almost run out of room on my walls. But the reaction especially when someone sees my home for the first time is priceless...the most common question is ""how did you get all of this stuff ???"" Often somebody will see one of my paper props framed up on the wall and ask how much it cost and then surprised when I tell them that the frame cost 10 times the price than the prop inside lol.

RELICMAKER......Brenton........help us out ....lol....

Relicmaker usually doesn't do many paper props, just incredible metal props. I know he did a Goonies and Romancing the stone map, but I rarely see him doing these small paper items. Usually working like crazy on a new run or future project :)

I specialise in paper props but I dont own the movie so Ive no screencaps to work from, if someone posts some I may have a crack at it.

Fabulous......Great Job Indeed sir...WOW awesome capture...Thank You SOOOO much... Now another favor to someone who can do it....can someone make this into a high res for printing ? ? ? Id love one for my wall...and im sure many other Romancing The Stone's fans would love it too... I can do paper props but something like this Im retarded on doing...

Damn I love this site...lol...Sometime I need to photograph my home...Is like a virtual Hollywood museum...my walls are covered in most all rooms..I have most all of RelicMakers <Brenton> creations and then some...I have one his original hand drawn GOONIES maps <b4 he started making scanned printed ones <<<which are awesome too and have one of those also>>>

The reason Im asking to get a high res / Printable version of this is because its one of my moms favorite movies. I was about 10 when this movie came out and remember watching it with her way back then ...i loved it...she loved it... I wanna do / get something special for her birthday and i thought this would be a great idea../. To watch the movie together and pause it at the right scene and let her open her gift... thanks guys

Hi VoiceMan,

here's my try on the certificate. It's not perect but I couldn't find the right font for "'Romance Book Club", so I used a similar one and tweaked the loops a bit. Also it's hard to see if the fonts are white or light pink/skincolor. The estamated size is 11" x 8,5" and ready to print.

WOW...good job.....thank you...the lettering looks good enough...what program did you make it with outta curiosity?? from the movie it looks like the background looks like a plum / rose pink... and the lettering looks like is a light soft baby pink <same as the frame..or very close>...maybe just a little lighter than you have it on both of those...could you lighten the background and the lettering just a little bit ?...or... tell me how... or what program to use and ill gladly try to do it...thanks again ...very awesome :)

Ive been wanting to learn how to do stuff like this taking screen caps and making them into something printable like this... and im usually pretty good about teaching myself. Alot of you guys do really good paper props...Ive made a few...and really like to collect them.... makes for good wall decor...and conversation.

Im sure alot of others appreciate and thank you for doing this too...i know alot of people here have Romancing The Stone collections...I have the map, stone, book covers, & sailboat pic...this will make a nice addition and I know my mom will like hers too.

What about color G-40 for the background and color C-37 for the lettering ? ? ?wcs-chart-4x.png <<<see attached color chat>>> The background is kinda a weird color....cant tell if its a dusky pink....coral...plum ?

Thanks VoiceMan,

I did this graphic with Corel PhotoPaint and CorelDraw. For the background I used the color with the RGB code 81/0/0 and for the graphics 229/189/195. First I used PhotoPaint to turn the size to US letter format, than I imported the file to CorelDraw and used the "Automatic Adaption" tool to get the (hopefully) real colors. The Corel Graphics Suite is quite intense to learn....

This is the version with your colors. To me it seems a little bit too less contrast.

This looks really good...getting close to 300 views now..I think this is really close...Im very happy with this....looking at the sample screen shot this looks really good.......Great Job...

The background is really close if not SA.....the lettering yeah maybe could be 1 shade lighter for more contrast....but yeah this really looks good

This is a hard one to tell...the more i look at it <the screen cap> and your 1st one. vrs your 2nd one made...im just not sure...This is a really good paper prop idea and thank you so much for your efforts... << Im surprised no one has ever done this prop b4 >> ...I mean this is one of Brenton's / RelicMaker's big prop <his map and stone> ...So I know alot of people have a few things from this movie at least...I even have 2 of Danny Devito's Pan Am bags <when he stole the stone..i might sell on of them>> Other people reading this what do you think of the colors ...or other ideas for that matter ? ? ?

Honestly, looking at the screencap, it appears that the text is actually gold embossed lettering. There are a few giveaways if you look closely. As a filmmaker, I have an understanding of how film lighting works and how it changes the appearance of things on camera, so my guess would be that it's gold lettering that's been embossed. Hope that helps you guys out in getting it as screen accurate as possible :)

Hey..thats a great call.......and a new prospective...yet i dont believe is so.....reason being is:

1. Ive seen this film countless times and have have never once even noticed the faintest of even a single """shimmer of light...a sparkle""" from any metalic <embossed> source
2. There are no shadows visible in the lettering in any screen shot cap....if truly embossed then would certainly reflect on camera under all the lights.....right? and.......or maybe Im wrong
3. Just watch the scene closely where it shows the certificate as the camera pans across it you never see a twinkle or anything like that Indicating any kind of metalic writing.....appears to be just a plain simple matted prop.
Maybe Im wrong and I very well could be ....of course Im just one person ...so this is just one persons opinion....not to be rude or anything like that.

OK .... I fixed it...im happy with this and am gonna call it done... I made the lettering a very very light soft baby pink color <<gives it more contrast>>....i think this looks pretty good... Thank you so much Cmdr.Kerner for all of your efforts ....If anyone wants to improve on it ...id be happy to see as im sure many others...as i think this is really a must have prop for this movie...although not a critical prop to the movie itself. ..id call it critical to a RTS prop collection....im just surprised like i said b4 no one has ever thought to make this one till now...i remember seeing this prop as a kid when the movie came out lol.... <<<NOTE: it appears the frame is a very light soft baby pink same as the lettering...maybe a little darker...but not much darker>>>

Note also the first one i tried with a very light slate gray.... but the 2nd and third are the better ones i think....#2 and #3 have the same lettering ...i just forgot to change the border on #2...so i did it on #3 ((with the pink border)) <<my final>> <<i tried to delete the first 2 but it wouldnt let me...ill leave them....maybe someone will like one of themCertificateFINAL.png better.
