The Rogue 1 ship was based off the ANH X-wings. I would bet a significant amount of money that the R2 Strip in that movie looked almost identical to the ones in ANH. That being said I "think" the blue squadron X-wings were CGI in that movie so probably any reference from the ANH Special editions would be darn close. the pic above is from the full sized prop built specifically for that premier - and its not all that accurate to what is on screen.

A few years ago I took an x-wing painting class at Jerseyfest (Jedi Dade, you were there too!). Mike Salzo presented the class.

Mike told me that the Rogue One digital model makers scanned one of his x-wing kits to make the CGI ships. I THINK he told me it was a V3.1.....

I believe the one at the premiere is an actual set screen used one thats what i am trying to replicate:

Well - the ship is painted as Red 5. That means that its "Lukes" X-wing a few days after Rogue one. But even with that I'm pretty sure they are not the same "full size" pieces. The detailing on the top near the butt plate seems very different - even from the blurry images. The Full Size set pieces never match the studio models of the same subject though...

Good Luck.

I aiming for the full size studio model used in the hanger and stunt scenes so its the best place to start.
