Rocketeer helmet kit - trimming and paint

I can't thank you guys enough for the kind words!
I don't presume to be the best at doing these and I take a lot of pride and passion in my work and I was very happy to hear that my client was happy with the work I did on this helmet.
If anyone ever comes across an ACME helmet and needs it painted you can count on me!

I would have killed someone for this stuff when I was a kid after the first time I saw The Rocketeer. Hell, I probably still would. Got anyone you really don't like?

Finished her up today.
Total I spent about twelve hours on this give or take.
Gold coat was toned using a mixture of Allclad "polished brass" and black, then I used Naptha to wipe down the surface to give it the antiqued look.

Very suprising, the helmet looks more 'aged' to the naked eye than it does on camera and in direct sunlight - a similar effect the real helmets had I believe.

All in all, I am happy with how it turned out and it was a lot of fun to do and I hope my client is happy with it.

I know what you mean.
I remember coming home from seeing this in the theaters and wanting the helmet and rocket pack so badly. Now over 20 years later, I wish I could go back in time and give these to my younger self!

You did a FANTASTIC job GeneralFROSTY!

I've been wanting to pickup an ACME helmet, now I think I know the man for the job.

The helmet looks great and the finish on the rocket is outstanding. What a great job you did Frosty!!

The only down side I think is that they wouldn't fit us when we were kids.

That helmet is awesome! Where did you get the kit? Great job on the paint to! Got it to look really tarnished.

Thank you so much I just got my kit, and was lost on how to paint it. This is really helpful. Thank you again and keep up the awesome work.

Thank you so much for posting this, I am working on this helmet now and the photos with instructions are extremely helpful!
