RIP Stan Lee

Yeah, I'll miss them too, but I guess he's been in a lot already, even in the new spiderman game haha! The man lived an extraordinary life, and I am sure his legacy will be with us for a very very long time. RIP mister Lee

I have an idea for Marvel Comics. Due to the passing of Stan Lee, we've lost a great storyteller. So, why not have him live on as a character in the Marvel Comics he helped create? He doesn't need to have his own run of comics, but make him be a source of knowledge and inspiration for characters who seek/need it. Have him work at the public library in New York (works as a call back to one his film appearances), which is a place which would be fitting of a storyteller. And whenever a character is facing a situation and needs some knowledge, or is facing a personal crisis or a crisis of faith, he gives them some form of knowledge that helps them. And also have him have a personal hotline where any hero who isn't in New York can call him for guidance when they need him.

Of course, this is just an idea.

4 cameos are already in the can for the next movies...so, he'll be with us for the future also; it's only fitting:cool:

The wife and I started watching Ant-Man and The Wasp on our flight home today. When we saw Stan onscreen we just smiled. His enthusiasm and humor will be sorely missed. What a shame he is gone.

I'm not really much of a fan of Bill Mayer, I don't mind some of his comedy when it is not too political (which is rare), but this stab he made at Stan Lee is beyond reprehensive.
I think I read this in the comments somewhere and I agree with it "I owe an apology to the guys who used to bully Bill Mayer, I see their point now."

I am late to the thread, but not to the thoughts. I grew up in the late 60's and 70's Marvel comics and Famous Monsters of Filmland were always a part of my life. In comics, The Hulk, Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Spiderman, and more were my preferred reads. Stan Lee and Forrest J. Ackerman were like 2 Uncles I never got to meet, but who both shaped my life in many ways. We lost Forry in 2008, and now Stan Lee, but in my heart, their legacies will live forever.

Excelsior!!

Stan's POW Entertainment company put together a very classy, well-stated response to Maher's comments... it's far more thoughtful and respectful than my desire to punch Maher in the throat.

An Open Letter to Bill Maher from Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment
Mr. Maher: Comic books, like all literature, are storytelling devices. When written well by great creators such as Stan Lee, they make us feel, make us think and teach us lessons that hopefully make us better human beings. One lesson Stan taught so many of us was tolerance and respect, and thanks to that message, we are grateful that we can say you have a right to your opinion that comics are childish and unsophisticated. Many said the same about Dickens, Steinbeck, Melville and even Shakespeare.

But to say that Stan merely inspired people to “watch a movie” is in our opinion frankly disgusting. Countless people can attest to how Stan inspired them to read, taught them that the world is not made up of absolutes, that heroes can have flaws and even villains can show humanity within their souls. He gave us the X-Men, Black Panther, Spider-Man and many other heroes and stories that offered hope to those who felt different and bullied while inspiring countless to be creative and dream of great things to come.

These are but a few of the things we the fans of Stan Lee also consider “adulting,” because life both as a child and grown-up can indeed be a struggle. Stan is the author of millions of happy childhood memories and the provider of so many of the positive tools of adulthood.

Our shock at your comments makes us want to say “‘Nuff said, Bill,” but instead we will rely on another of Stan’s lessons to remind you that you have a powerful platform, so please remember: “With great power there must also come -- great responsibility!”

-Team Stan
