Ian was a wonderful A List actor, no matter what role he had he turned a consistent quality performance. He had a quiet charm even as an antagonist.

Ian Holm was, like Anthony Hopkins, an actor who could effortlessly portray kind, sweet and charming or sadistically evil and everything in between and you would never question what you were seeing. You would never say "I just can't believe him in this role."
