Rincewind suit in progress (Updated 10-28)

Cast some more dreads and glued them in. Only 1 mold for them so it takes an hour for each one. The mold is platinum silicone and that crap is so expensive I don't want to pour a second mold.

I put the mask on top of the mannequin to get an idea for the overall feel. So far it's not bad. Wish the Mr. I suit wasn't so baggy in some areas, but what the hell.

I airbrushed some more on the suit too...trying to refine the method for the spots. It makes for good practice...my next suit should be better.

I'd kill to be able to buy Carl's armor for this, but no way to afford it plus the time constraints...

Onward I go...will update again when I make some more progress!

hey man, everything looks amazing. Im actually stealing your idea with the Rubies Bio, what did you use to cover the P.O.S. with? Im thinking about doing the same and using it as a mould for a custom.

wow, this is moving fast here....awesome progress!! About the skin: Did you airbrush the latex on or did you use a brush? Does it hold well on there??

I can't believe how well the bio fits over the Rubies mask. Interesting.

It's not the Rubie's POS...I bought the undermask from Seahunterr. The Rubie's mask was nowhere near the quality I wanted for this...one of the early pics shows the new bio fitting over the Rubie's mask, but I ditched it and got the DB P1 mask.

I brushed the latex on the suit. When the light hits it you can see the brush streaks in the surface. It has probably 5-6 coats on it, using about 3/4 gallon of latex.

I'm gonna try and finish painting the suit after work today, then get to work on the armor.

Time's ticking away...

Thanks for the positive comments...

More progress...I'm gonna have to settle for less than I really wanted by Halloween since there is only a finite amount of time in the day and the rest of the world seems to want it's share of my time too.

I have sculpted and cast the hip armor in resin...it's not totally accurate, but close enough for now. I'll post pics of the cast parts once they are demolded and painted. Here is the scupt and molding.

Here I've continued attaching dreads...ran out of flex foam, gotta order it Monday morning overnight.

Here are the hands and gauntlets I got from Art...painted the hands and been modifying the gauntlets to fit my forearms.

Here is the suit finally painted...waiting for a coat of Permawet.

Lots of little things left to do...and some huge things. Like the torso armor.

Damn...not enough time in a day.

I just got in from the big party on 6th St. here in Austin. I didn't win the costume contest at work...some dumb-**** costumes did. Of course.

But I probably posed for a thousand pictures (literally...I stopped counting after 600) over the course of 4 hours.

I'll post some once I get them off the cam...I'm gonna go crawl in the bed and get some sleep before work.

Cheers

I know what you mean about photos! Amazing how many people what them! I was only at a small party but i must have done around 100. Should have charged  LOL. I also did not win the compo, as they wuldnt let me in due to the venue being full. Good to hear you got finished.
