Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

Are we sure that the derlict in Prometheus is the same one?

Considering the people who have just seen the 3D preview say the planet in the trailer is called LV-233, not LV-426, and the fact that the alien ship does not look the same as the one in Alien, nor does the engineers chair and the circular room, the planet we see in the trailer looks nothing like LV-426, Damon Lindeloff said it was not LV-426, and Ridley said this was not that type of prequel....I would say no.

The trailer even says that the same symbols were found on multiple planets so who's to say there aren't multiple 'derelicts' and perhaps this movie will leave a bridge to Alien in the last few scenes

Well, if once a species the engineers influenced makes it back to the "engineer's" home, and they then launch a ship to confront them.....(getting this info from a few early spoiler reports) "What if" another species made it to the home planet before humans, they were transformed into engineers and a ship launched that ended up crashing on LV-426...this would explain the slight difference in appearance to the space jockey we see in ALIEN, and the slightly smaller one we see in Prometheus......the space jockey isn't a transformed human, but another species.

I've seen several interview where Ridley has stateed that the last 8 minutes or so of the film provide the tie in to Alien. What exactly that tie in will be is of course unknown at this point. As Kit Rae pointed out the planet is supposedly not the same planet. I think earlier in this thread someone (Carson Dyle?) had mentioned that there is some 'wiggle room' in the evolution that could explain the differences between the prometheus engineers/derelict and the one in Alien

Good spot. I missed that too. I did some image enhancement in p'shop and I can see each on is identical, with the wall surrounding it and the hangar door field in front of each. So each one would contain an engineer ship.

Closer examination with some image enhancement. Looks like the other temples were always visible, we just were not looking for them. We can see the landing field areas clearly marked as well.

Maybe each "temple" contains a different xenomorph. The Prometheus tentacle xenomorph in the temple they go in and the ALIEN xenomorph in one of the other temples (with an empty hanger the once housed the derelict that was found on LV-426.) Just guessing.

Damn is it June 8th yet?! You guys over the pond will get to see it on June 1st on which I will stop reading any spoilers on that day Lol.

The so-called "derelict" from ALIEN does not appear in Prometheus. Different versions of the craft, yes, but not the one seen in the original film.

It's not a revelation, it's been visible in stills too. To be honest I thought we were all across this one!

Carson has also mentioned previously that neither the ship nor the planet are the same; this planet is known as LV233.

The temple of five? Oh, I get it. Ridley is a BSG fan, and this is actually a prequel to the reboot of the next BSG movie/series/whatever. And the answer is: the xenomorphs are actually Cylons. But they're called Star Beasts in the script. Just semantics, really.

I wonder if this will be about space truckers that get diverted to intercept a signal in deep space. This would be perfect, maybe they could come across a derelict ship and things go horribly wrong for the crew, this looks pretty likely form the info we have at the moment.

I just watched the trailer for Lockout and think the Derelict is in the background in one of the shots, its also appeared in The Walking Dead season 2 episode 6, Bambi, Ghostbusters and Shindlers List. It gets around quite a lot if you really look closely.

In fact Thumper is metaphorically a Burster in one sense, I mean watch Bambi the directors cut and tell me I'm wrong :behave
