Riddick Rule the Dark - Necromonger pistol.

I've been a huuuuuuuuuuge Riddick fan since Pitch Black came out in 2000 (holy crap has it really been 14 years now!?) and have always wanted to collect things but just not the right amount of income. Well being older and an adult changed that! The new movie is absolutely fantastic and I *had* to have some Necromonger armor from it.
Queue the greatest site on earth, thepropstore.com! After months of payments it finally arrived just last month and it is my most prized possession. Honestlym it's hard for me to take it off. I think I'll wear it forever.
I don't quite have any good pictures of it yet, I apologize and that will soon be remedied.

Anyways, the thing I needed most to cosplay with this on is some sort of weapon, and I was NOT willing to pay over $1300 just for an original one. The next best thing I found was a cast of an original from The Chronicles of Riddick.

Buying casts of things from ebay is always a horrible no-no but I was pretty much desperate. As expected the thing had tons of flaws; bubbles, excess plastic in areas, missing detail in the middle, soft spots that had to be filled. But after all that I got to get to painting!
Fresh from the box. It's a solid cast so it has plenty of heft to it.

I had to primer and sand many times to fill the small holes that were all over this thing. I didn't even get all of them, this will be used for cosplaying so it will get plenty of use so I didn't want to put too much work into it.

Step two is BLING. Can't be a Necromonger without your pimp pistol. After that I rubbed it all down with some steel wool to take out the shine.

Many layers of drybrushing with multiple colors later, everything but the middle is done.

And then the middle is painted on! I know it isn't 100% accurate but I really doubt anyone will be able to tell. If you compare it with an original side by side you'll see color differences only because I went to a hardware store and did my best job to match them with rattle cans.
I haven't seen anyone else put this up here so I thought I'd share!

I'm actually really excited how well this came out. Now it's time for me to wait for winter to go away so I can get a real photoshoot planned out.

That did come out great. The original light up versions are a work of art. I have ones thats been taken apart for on set repairs yet never re-attended to. The metal plating and steps that went into them are mind blowing for a prop.

Right!? I researched the hell out of them and they are AMAZING. I just wish I could afford a real one. Pretty much everything made for all of the Riddick movies are super high quality, I just purchased a screen used convert costume from someone on here and I'm hoping to find more people to sell me more screen used Riddick items in the future. I'm officially addicted to owning these incredible items.

Which doesn't speak well for my bank account.
