Rick Grimes Basketweave Duty Belts

Morning all,

Just got these through to the UK from the US, was bit of a mission and not the cheapest endeavour but they are pretty cool and should serve well as part of a Rick Grimes cosplay.

I’m more of a light brown ginger guy so my attempt will be a mix between the comic and TV show Ricks, mainly my head will be comic with the rest taking inspiration from the show. Not sure how it will turn out, but should be fun exploring the idea!

Anyway, I got three belts as I wasn’t sure on sizing etc, one 38” and two 36”, the 36” (brass buckles) are slightly too short so I’ll be selling them on!

Don’t think they are 100% screen accurate as the weave patterns are all slightly different, but still, close enough!

Here's a page that discusses the belt and holster Rick Grimes screen accurate costume

Unfortunately the holster and belt making firm Tex Shoemaker has closed shop.

Used TS holsters, and new old-stock ones, come up on Ebay regularly but they're pricey.

Those US Law Enforcement Duty Belts have been standard here for a century and many thousands have been made over the years.

Getting the exact model of holster is far trickier due to there being a huge number of different styles.

Thanks for the info and link to the other thread, appreciate it!

I’ve seen some of the holsters but as you say they are pricey. That plus shipping and import duties to the UK will be out of my budget. I often see some that are similar so I may just go for one of those, not screen accurate. I also saw some that were not basketweave, so contemplated buying the leather punch and doing that myself, or just making one on my own, could be a good project.

The belts were easy to find, it was just finding some that didn’t have £70 shipping, in most cases the duty and postage exceed the price of the item so it was a bit of a mission.

It’s turning into a little labour of love in some regards as I’m really having to search for the right thing at the right price. I love a little investigative purchasing

The SA belt with the correct colored lining is a bit tricky to find. There are plenty of close-enoughs out there, or even the same belt with the incorrect lining. I finally picked up the correct one a few months ago! As for the holster, there is a seller on eBay for occasionally manufactures nearly perfect replicas. I have one and have never felt the need to pay the jacked-up prices for the SA Tex Shoemaker one!

Would you still know the name of the seller on ebay?

The belt is a safety speed duty belt black basket weave with a fully black lined inside of the belt. As for the holster the holster is a Tex shoemaker 42A or a Tex shoemaker 42AK. Both are used in the show. These pieces are VERY rare nowadays
