Hey all,
This project has been a long time coming!
Generally, I make mostly Star Wars related costumes, but I was contacted by (I think) a fellow member, Mark Dubeau, about making Deckard's trench coat.
I wasn't in a good living space at the time (actually pretty unsafe but that's another story) so we held off for a bit.
That ended up being a good choice, because my skills, ability to dedicate time to the project, and equipment really improved.
We had some points on his current jacket that he wanted to improve on (collar, material, pockets, etc) but was very happy with the overall dimensions.
Using the coat he had lent to me, I used the masking tape method to pull the basic patterning and modified upon that.
I am creating some YouTube videos about the project (so far I only have the introduction done) but the project has really snowballed from just the trench coat.
I decided that I really wanted to create the costume soup to nuts. Trousers, holster, trousers, belt, blazer, shirts, ties...everything except the adidas.
I spent a considerable amount of time creating illustrator files for two shirts (the most well known shirt) and the diamond patterned shirt from the end of the movie.
There are a few options for the geometric tie as well, but being difficult, I designed my own version as well.
Now for the shoes, I found a variant of the Stan Smiths that were a great deal ($40 shipped) that didn't require any covering or removing of logos. Amazingly, I had some brown shoe laces from my Wested Indy boots that fit perfectly.
For the blaster, Adam at Watney Props printed me a great print of the Anders blaster.
I created a file in illustrator for the holster as well.
As I continue the project, I will post more in-depth on each piece.
Figured I would start the thread with a smattering of pics to get the attention of anyone who might be interested.
