Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

Hi guys! I'm so impressed with everyone's hard work and excellent contributions! It's great motivation!

I was just wondering if someone who has the Boots or CliniCrepe bandages could take a look at this picture and see how they think these more budget friendly elasticated cotton crepe bandages compare (though I know it's probably hard to tell based on one pic of dubious quality).

Thanks!

Looks like it'll work to me! I used some self-stick bandages from Walmart for my first wraps, and they did fine. This is much closer than those, for what it's worth.

Absentee Thread Momma here! Just wanted to pop my head in to say AMAZING job everyone! I'm just blown away by everyone's hard work. (Kendra, yours is looking faaantastic! I'm loving the dye job and distressing.)

I'm working on compiling a big blog post for the Essential or Ultimate Guide to Rey's Costume (as it would seem besides this thread, my blog is becoming a go-to place for Rey costuming questions, including from ILM! @_@ ). I'll be popping back up here periodically to ask questions for said Guide to make sure I have it all fleshed out. Then when I post, I'll post it here as well for you guys to look through and correct any mistakes. Hm...maybe I should do two..

I like the idea of two versions, or a regular version, with, say, text boxes on the side or whatever to give "budget tips."

I am a huge fan of the budget costume, as it gets so many new people to play in our sandbox. :)

I have been looking for people who might be going to the Star Wars Celebration Europe. I recently posted some questions on the RPF "ROGUE ONE Jyn Erso - open build thread" (Post #148) which I hoped someone in attendance in London could investigate. Any help or photos you might be able to capture would be appreciated. In any case have fun in London.

Ok, I'll try to post some pics of this convention here anyway. Thanks !

We found out there is a local con here on Saturday, so i'm trying to ramp up production.

Hopefully tomorrow i can work on the color of the shoulder pad and the detail on the side bottle.

Thx! That's actually the amazon rothco bag and i ordered it in od green. I weathered it with sandpaper and some acrylic paint. I actually re worked it today so it was more accurate size and closer to the signal bag.

So, I've start to work on the side-bag. I don't know if it will be finished in time for the convention in London, but I'll do my best to.
I used a watertight bag (US from WW2) The guy who sold it to me was thinking it was maybe a barrack bag... it was really large before I cut it (about 65X58cm). But it look like the accurate material. Do you know what it is ?

Here are some pics :

The "wet weather" barrack bags used by US Forces were made of nylon with a rubberized coating. The regular barracks or laundry bags were all made of cotton, first of denim (which were blue), then olive drab (OD) herringbone twill and finally OD poplin.

Ok, thanks for the details ! :)

Started my gloves tonight. Got the inserts patterned and cut out, hopefully I'll be able to finish them tomorrow.
I'm getting really excited about the leather parts. I can't wait to do the belt and backpack! I'm currently doing a mock up of the backpack in felt to get a feel for the size and how everything goes together. When I finish it, I think it's going to be my purse/ everyday bag.

I don't know if there is anyone here who may want to travel via Eurostar with their Rey costume((in the few days or maybe later), but be careful, because the staff had to be register before depart (1h30 before). I'm leaving in 3 days, and just had been aware of the problem. Mine has been cut in 3 pieces and had 2 metallic insert. I can't take it with me during the travel or in my suitcase, because it look like a replica weapon ! So you have to pay extra cost to put it in the hold... (which is 25€/34€) :thumbsdown Next time, I'll take the bus!

Hmmmm. Mine is resin and pvc on an aluminum pipe. I'm in the US, and I've been wondering what would happen if I tried to fly with it. I bet it would have to be declared too:(
