Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

Yes... I painted/weathered them with the same taupe spray paint that I used to weather the backpack with. :)

I bought the Ebay gloves in medium but they were too big on me so I ordered the small and its perfect.
With that said, I have them in medium if anyone wants them. No cost. Happy to give and help my fellow Reys.:)

Someone jump on these...much easier than Modding the petzls. ..and its an RPF pay it forward!
We need more of that spirit. :)

Everyone who has bought the eBay gloves - what was the sizing like for you? I measured the circumference of my palm and got about 7.25" (18.5cm exactly) but I'm finding it hard to believe that the small size gloves will fit me. I'm about 5'10" but I have 6" wrists. The measurement from the tip of my middle finger to my wrist is about 8 inches.
Any insights into how these fit would be great :)

JJ, I used various scraps of medium, to dark brown leather, and then used acrylic paint (lots of layers) to get the desired affect. I'm making a few extra sets to sell, as I have a bunch of scrap I can use up. Plus they are fun to make. :)

Yep, that variance is what I am talking about! The ones on the left are for the lower part of the staff, while the ones on the right seem to be lighter and the at the top of the staff?

Will those fit around a 1" dowel?

I have the 3D printed staff on a 1" dowel currently yes.

I used the 1" dowel for an Oscar party I went to last week, but am modifying my staff (that was a temporary solution) to EMT conduit (which is a slightly smaller diameter but slightly heavier and more realistic in weight). The dowel makes the staff so light. Fine for some, but I prefer it to seem a bit more "real". My EMT staff will screw together as two pieces like a pool cue too, for easy transport.

So I had bought the reproduction bag off eBay that I figured you could modify to work...I just ripped the seam on the flaps...here is the result.
Also for size comparison to the Rothco bag from Amazon.

I made my first version of the pouch with the mil surp bag on the right in your picture (the khaki one) and it turned out fine.

I only made a version 2 because someone was kind enough to trade me an m37 satchel for my finished replica, so I just modded the m37 and now I use that.

they both looked basically the same in the end, but there was a lot less modifying needed to the m37 than the other bag to get them to look right.

Couldn't find an m37 bag after y'all tipped off the sellers that they're worth something haha. If I did they were at least $100

Okay, I may be losing my mind here. Can someone with an actual, original, WW2 Enfield strap please measure its width for me (in both inches and mm)? I thought it was the same width as the Bren strap my GF used but I keep seeing conflicting information out there.

Thanks!

I have been doing research about the Enfield slings and I read that depending if the were actually issued and how long they were used in the field, they did stretch somewhat over time. That could account for minor variances in length and width, even between two slings with the same issue date. I am expecting two straps in the mail this week, I'll post the measurements when they arrive.

Think Kristen working with the military surplus would be able to lend her expertise. I have two here...they look pretty new though.

My Scavenger Backpack is COMPLETE!! And the best part is that I was able to stitch it all together myself, where I had thought I would need to take it to a leatherworker to do it!

Here's some pics:

This looks amazing! So does the completed costume. When do you find time to sleep?

New, old, I don't really care. I just need a frame of reference from someone who owns actual Enfield webbing slings (not repros)

You know the funny thing is that though I had been acquiring items for this build since this thread first began, I didn't get serious about putting it together until after I had finished my Husband's Kylo Ren... so it was a mad dash to get it all together!

The last bit was the backpack, and it did take me two sleepless nights to complete...but I'm glad that I did it. I LOVE that particular bit of the costume, and (at least for now) I'm the only one that I have seen about wearing it with the full scavenger outfit. So I have that to distinguish me from the pack....until y'all catch up to me. :D

Here is a measurement for you JJ

It appears there's more then 1 thickness as discussed when used they thin out a bit it would seem? These don't seem very used if at all.
