Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

Why not make a duct tape form of your arm like others do for the body? That way it will be the size of your arm.

I did that too, actually...I have a duct tape dummy of myself that I tried it on but it still doesn't look as good to me as direct wrapping because the tighter you wrap it the better it looks (and the smaller my arms look LOL)

Well here is my ALMOST 100% complete blaster. I am still waiting on the movable safety switch. :)

you could make the dummy a little smaller than your real size and that would make it fit tighter.

Question on the sling for the staff, how is everyone attaching the two straps together? I am a bit confused staring down at the two that I purchased.

Does anyone know about the exact measurements of the belt?

I am not sure how long the belt strips should be in relation to each other.
On the left photo it looks as if the upper front strip reaches a bit further around Rey’s waist than the lower strip. On the right photo it looks as if the D rings of the upper and lower front belt strips end at the same vertical level.

Hope it is clear what I mean. English is not my native language.

Hand stitch them together end to end with tan thread. Don't overlap the layers...just butt them up to one another and hasty stitch across the joint.

That came out pretty darn good what light is it? It doesnt have the domed from but still looks good all around...

The light is a custom piece... I made it out of a Chap Stick tube, some electrical tape and a 1.95 mini led keychain light I bought at Menard's.

Painted with Hammered Pewter spray paint.

Rings should be same vertical.
The way she is sitting throws things off.

Those are also available at Jo Ann... bought some a week or two ago. If anyone needs a set, I have an extra pair that you can have.

The finish looks good!

Another thing that works well is that textured paint you can buy at Lowe's. I used the brown on my toggle clamps for the goggles and it looks super rusty crusty. It sprays out almost like sand granules and builds up a texture very easily.

The problem is that it needs to be fitted to my arms. It can't be done flat, and it's not easy (or adviseable) to sew it while on my arm.

Thant was the problem with using the mannequin arm... once I got them off they were stretched too big for my arms and looked baggy.

It honestly isn't a big deal to wrap them over the compression sleeves, and it gives the best look overall. I just tuck the loose ends into the compression sleeves when done and it holds fine.

Just a note on the textured spray paint. I used the crap out of it for my Mad Max cosplay, and seconded. It's a down and dirty, cheap and easy way to get a nice rusty/worn look.

As discussed a few pages back, the left sleeve is ribbed.
Each rib is actually 2 ribs like this _M_M_M_
The right sleeve is plain and there is a repair on the main shirt.

The entire thing is made to look like it's been made from assorted scraps and repaired.
The back while looking like it's also jersey at times looks like it has a striped pattern to it at least on the sides and almost looks like it is wearing through (semi transparent)
any clue as how to accomplish this look?

Accomplish what?
The sleeve or the different back?

The sleeve is a lot of pinning and sewing (even with a machine it took me 4 hours to do a strip large enough for what I needed)
The rest of the shirt was all hand sewn.

For the back I just used the other side of the fabric to give it a slightly different look..
If I wanted to go crazy I could have probably sanded it or just used a different fabric.

Hey guys i hate to be a pain but ive been browsing all 75 pages of this thread trying to a find a complete list of all the fabrics and lenghs required but i just cant to pin point it, anyone have it to hand?
