Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

The redish cloth on the goggles can be seen in pix taken at C7 and D23.

Pack size is about 14" H x 11" W x 3" D.
I just marked off on the leather and cut.
You will have to add enough to the back piece to include the flap.

I'll check my notes this afternoon when I get off work.

A good amount of reference is needed to get all the details right.

Still waiting on the clear shot of the under flap pieces posted earlier in the thead.

How'd they make the wrist area of the gloves longer? Did they re-make the entire glove?

On the exhibit gloves they have suede which the petzl gloves do not have also...

Checking my notes.
Pack is same as noted above.(you might want to add 1/2" to the side to compensate for the sewn edge)

Side pockets for the 2 sticks is 5.5" H , 4 " from top edge.
Once it reaches the face it's 2" with a space of 1.5" from top of side panel pockets and 2.25" from the bottom edge. should end 4.25" from edge.
Flap (part of the back panel) goes over the top (add 3") then down the face 7".
Band on flap starts 2" down on the back side top of the pack and extends 1.5" past the bottom of flap.
The corresponding strap on the face starts 2.5" from bottom. (length 7+ inches)
Both straps start 2.75" from right edge. and are 2" wide (2 pieces for leather)
Webbing is Type 37 tan 1".
Side canister webbing is scrap from the Enfield sling.
The shoulder straps are 1.25" wide, length at least 29" (+ 3" each end) so 35"
I made mine longer then figured out how it should sit properly then cut, I would suggest doing it that way to adjust for your body type.
I made the shoulder strap loops on the back at 1.5" (3") but found pictures afterword that showed them to be longer.
These are angled at about 30 degrees
The strap on the bottom of the pack is 1" wide and 11" long +1.5" for the loop holding the rings.
Bottom cup is 2.5" x 2.5"
The band on the shoulder strap holding the chained canister 1 7/8" at center and is shaped like and S.

Hardware.
X2 Flat rounded end Tri glides 1.25 opening (I couldn't find any in this size so I went with 1.5" ) Shoulder straps
Rectangular loops
X2 2" Flap strap
X2 1" Bottom strap
X4 1.25" Shoulder straps

The shoulder pad Reddish brown mystery cloth is attached to the shoulder strap.
It uses 1" and 2" cotton webbing. Green.
X4 1" square Tri Glides in black
X1 1" D Ring in black

Look at photos while working on it.
Have fun.

Probably custom made.
You can get costume correct ones now from Singapore (check ebay)

I saw those...anyone bought them yet? I was talking with my buddy Scott about them...while searching high and low for a possible pair of gloves that they could have used (maybe older petzel gloves) The gloves used on my Royce costume for example are long discontinued and the new version is similar but not the same...possible these are petzel or other gloves from a few years back?

I just ordered those gloves off eBay so I'll let y'all know what they are like when they get here! Shipping might take a while though. But I figured for $19 bucks they were worth a shot

Im interested in how they look before I pull the trigger...color looks off on the pics...but if someone has them and has pics of their own thatd be awesome...I dont want to buy junk and waste the money. Been there with Fett boots before...

Im not convinced the Goggle Light on the traveling suit at CVII was the functioning one...perhaps the goggles werent the hero goggles?

If you look at the functioning one in the film...it has a groove lengthwise...which is not there on the CVII piece. Also the bracket made from the helping hand...looks fake on the CVII piece...possibly a cast/3D printed piece?

The D23 display had the Hero light not C7.

Notice the front lens and the metal (open armature) and the large washer to keep it from flopping around.

Thats great! All the pices i found had the light facing the other way...

More I look at it the more i think they removed the shroud from the front of a flashlight/torch...Im searching image after image...and I think thats the case....on google.com and .uk since they typically use british stuff

Can someone post the measurements off the satchel please.
I picked up a beautiful p37 (long) satchel, so I'll have to modify it.
Thanks

Think someone needs to consolidate the info somewhere...Maybe first post? Like all the patterns you guys have made etc...a quick reference of sorts.

Hi everyone, I am Hedi and I am new here. Found this place the other day while searching for some DIY tips for my Rey costume.

This thread helped a lot. Especially the close-ups together with the DIY instructions turned out to be very useful.

But unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure out, yet what the 4 side clips of the goggles are made of.
And I would like to know what kind of metal tubule is suitable to build the rangefinder.

Couldn’t find the answers in this thread. With over seventy pages it’s simply to long check every posting for useful information.

I am glad to having found this board and I would appreciate every hint.
Sometimes small little hints can be extremely helpful. Yesterday for example I found out that they actually used a jumper as head wrap. This little piece of information was extremely useful. Made it so much easier to create and put on the headdress.

The clips are unknown but one person used copper I think I remember and cut it out then bent it.

Don't think anyone's nailed down what to use as far as an accurate piece for the light. Or rangefinder as you called it. It's for sure an LED light but no ones figured out where to get one just like it.

Thank you Fett 4 Real (nice nick ;-) ) and Redwillow!

I actually do have a LED light in the right shape and size. But it's black and I would like to wrap it with something more "tin like" to make it look more original.

For the toggle bolt wings... good hint. Now I need to find out the German translation of this item. Or I will make a screen shot to be able to ask for them at the construction market for I am from Germany.

Er, maybe it's just me but the clips also remind me of parts of clothespins. ;-)

Slowly but surely, my Rey is coming together. I'll be getting a 3D print of her blaster shipped in either today or tomorrow. It will need to be painted and assembled. I've never painted a 3D printed item, so I'm hoping I can figure it out and make it look good...

I also bought the files for her staff from that Sellfy link posted earlier. I just need to make time to get down to DoSpace to print off the pieces.

On Saturday I did a quick test photoshoot and found some big issues that will need to be resolved for the costume. It need a LOT more tailoring. I didn't notice until we were looking through photos, but the looseness of the costume does not photograph well on my body type XP I might need to completely re-make the pants, and I definitely need to tailor the shirt and belt (or just bite the bullet and order the leather one I really really want).

Does anyone have good links/tips for weathering? I primarily do pretty costumes, so I'm really struggling on how to get Rey to a good point. I just don't have enough practice with weathering techniques :/
