Rey - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Build (open for everyone!)

SWEET!!!!
Looking forward to it.

Please tell me you got pix of the right side belt assembly and the silver clip on the back of the pouch.

Shoulder area under the wrap or the neckline of the tunic on Rey by chance? I need photos showing how it should look. I'm told its two tops, which is believable given how odd it is.

Also, better picks of the headwrap are needed.

I've been souring the net looking for more pictures but have found little.
Something I noticed though is this is a different costume from the C7 exhibit.
Possibly the "HERO" costume

Hero rangefinder with metal arm and large washer for support, a (?) glass tip, indent on side and possible design or greeblie on top.
Goggles are different in shape and stitching.

The leather pack and greeblies look different. (cleaner and missing details and parts on the straps)
Gloves aren't damaged.
Belt is different.
Boots look cleaner.

A different hero costume? Ohhh they know how to play with my emotions. Now I'll have to repeat to myself "DON'T catch them all, DON'T catch them all"...

The ratty ends of the viscose wrap look like a match to the scenes of her in the trading town and of her running.
The D23 belt has vertical striations and a different dye job than the C7 version.

I agree many of the ones on display at D23 had subtle differences from the costumes we saw at C7. Heck, one of the T-tracks was missing from one of the trooper's blasters! Ooops?

Sorry this took so long to get these D23 images to you. After I promised Id take more I went back and damn it they added huge barriers around the costumes and staff all over it like flies on ****. So i couldnt get close to the costumes like I did before

I TOUCHED REY!!!

Yeah.. so i showed up on Friday to D23 and ran STRAIGHT TO THIS! I ended up walking in an hour early so I think some stuff wasnt set up yet (barrier wise), I poked and prodded Phasma and Rey (got in trouble for touching phasmas cape) anyways the staff wasnt caring and I started taking photos. Word on he street is these and the costumes at C7 (Kylo ect) are real and used in the movie. Wow some of this feels so slammed together!!

Hello... first post here! I was looking for other stuff and just came across this thread. I made Rey back in May (pics here if interested). If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to help! I was going to do a write up and got kind of lazy, but maybe I'll get back on it sometime soon.

That photo gallery is fantastic!

So what I'm pulling from these images is that the arm wraps might be the same material as the head wrap. Did it seem that was the case to you?

Also, the viscose looks alot wider weave than what has been originally thought, did anyone else think that from the photos?

My silk that I bought for the pants is likely not right, but I thought that might be the case when I got it, but it looks really close, so I may use it anyway unless RL says it has to be specific. Also, the head wrap material, does it seem more gauze like? Or is that just my interpretation? It looks thinner to me.

This costume is forever overwhelming me, I'm beginning to worry I'll never finish due to that...

Thanks for the pictures! Now I know exactly what to do with the gloves and some more details of the backpack became visible.
Today was also a happy day for me because my boots arrived!

I was so lucky to find a pair in a shop in New Zealand! They are so comfortable they feel like houseshoes.

Stylish Geek welcome to the forum.
I think most of us have a had a chance to check out you site when it was posted by on of the members.
Well done.:thumbsup

DF, the head piece and arm wrappings are different.
The side shoulder shot you can see the difference in the materials.

Troopergirl, Great score.
Being comfortable means you'll get your moneys worth out of wearing them everywhere. :D

Yeah I tried to get as close as I can to the weaves but yes they do appear to be mildly different. Just like on phasma this costume was up on 3 foot higher than me stand as well. I hope they help you guys! :)

One of your pix shows that the wrap is pieced at the bottom of the loop.
Means less fabric needed. (win)

Another sort of shows how the belt weaves into itself like the bracer.

Wish someone that set up the display took pix and posted all the details that are hidden.:unsure

Of course the time I get the email on the pre-order for shoes, I run out of money due to bills. Go figure, right? Thankfully, they're keeping pre-orders open for a couple more weeks. Here's to hoping I can make enough money by then! *fingers crossed*

SL13377 - Thank you SO much for both taking those pictures and posting them. I imagine they will be a huge help.

- Welcome to the forums, Emily! We love what you add to the community (great Rey costume, btw! I think yours was one of the first I saw).

DlarianFerrel - Oh I feel you....I echo you on the long wait of trying to make this costume. I'm still struggling on the getting fabrics, patterns, and money front (story of my cosplay life!) But I'm still shooting for a SW premiere deadline. I think that should still be doable (especially as I don't plan on doing the headwrap and goggles, so that saves a couple pieces to make).

Troopergirl - Woohoo! Nice find! I'm looking forward to getting those shoes. Glad to hear they're comfy!

Ive got plenty of fabric, and began buying pieces for the staff. The boots, oh how i want the boots from Pozu. I have seriously thought about making a fundme acct for them or early birthday present collection since its only 2 months from now. I found a pair of dark brown suede moon boots that i can make look close if i can't get the actual ones right way.

I have a pattern that i want to try but sewing intimidates me badly. I dont have a form to work with and my husband though he tries, is not good at sewing help. But i know my staff is in good hands with him.

I hope to get some progress soon, but the little ones need halloween costumes done too.

For the arm wraps, I actually bought medical gauze and dyed it. The head wrap is the same material as the draping on the body. I'm not sure what the exact material is called, but it was a wrinkled linen type of fabric that I also dyed to look more "dirty". I also got to see the costume up close at Celebration so I tried my best to get it accurate! I just didn't have time for the backpack, but would love to make that piece in the future.

Aw, thanks! I didn't know you guys already posted my costume! I'm honored! Yeah, after I saw it at Celebration I thought it would be a fun one to make. Kind of weird cosplaying as a character you barely know anything about! But I'm so glad I did or else I wouldn't have been able to get a cool shot on her popsicle at SDCC!
