I’ve been enjoying his videos lately, and mostly agree. It seems like the new SW films are forcing women characters in there who are one-dimensional and aren’t experiencing any growth in teh story, or are outright idiots or worse. ADM Holdo is a “bad manager” to a degree beyond belief.

It's not really surprising. It's not MCU yet, not every character can get a full backstory movie. Perhaps they'll go with some serious flashbacks in the 9th part.

Flashbacks are a crutch for bad story writing. Especially in a series that actively avoided that kind of thing previously.
