ReWatching Spiderman 3......

I still enjoy watching it. Yeah, when I saw it in theaters when it came out I was pretty pissed, but you shouldn't let overblown expectations ruin a movie for you.

That said, there are definitely still aspects of it I just can't stand (I'm looking at you, dance scene). Also, since when was Peter a jazz pianist? I can buy that he can dance, but you don't just sit down at a piano and magically be able to play it that well. Would people have accepted that he was suddenly a saxophone virtuoso? Violinist?

Also, retconning Uncle Ben's killer was just an insult. But that aside, Sandman absolutely carries that movie. I think he's the best villain of all the Raimi movies.

But seriously, is it really necessary for Peter Parker to have a personal connection to every single super villain in New York? How many millions of people live in that city? Just let him stumble upon some ******* criminal who's threatening a bunch of people in some nefarious scheme. Spidey's a hero, he fights crime and saves lives, that's his motivation. It doesn't need to be any more personal than that.

Anyway, other than the dance scene, and the Peter-with-newfound-*******-confidence-walking-down-the-street-pointing-at-girls scene, I still quite enjoy the film. Like I said, pretty much all of the Sandman scenes are bad ass.

And like Hecubus said, Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 did some pretty stupid **** for a genius. Even though everyone agrees it was the best Raimi Spider-Man film, it had some aspects that really annoyed me as well. Peter was just a little too 'emotional' for a little too long.

Spider-Man 2 is STILL my favorite super hero movie. It just nails the vibe of the seventies John Romita Spider-Man world and brings it to life. Best Super Hero/Villain fight too (clock tower to elevated train sequence). The last scene between Mary Jane and Peter is perfect.

There are things in Spider-Man 3 I like a lot. Sand Man's creation/rebirth sequence is beautiful. The aerial combat between Harry (as the new Goblin) and Spidey early on is FUN. But beyond that, yeah, emo Parker and venom don't do much for me. Too much going on.

This remains the only movie I have ever walked out of at the movie theater, 258 million dollars and that is what they gave us. Shame on them.

The only part I like is the dark Peter stuff - when he exits the clothing store and does that stupid dance number - priceless.

The dance number was nowhere near as bad as the butler telling Harry that he tended his father's wounds when he died and he knows without a doubt the fatal stab came from the glider - so Spider-man is innocent. Feed him to the Sharktacons!

Spider-Man 2 is my favorite as well. I really love Spider-Man 3 as well I think it is a lot of fun. I particularly love that first scene with the Sandman as well.

To be fair I found the trio of villains in Spider-Man 3 a lot more entertaining than The Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man, which I found to be a very generic villain.

Good point about the Lizard being a bit generic. He definitely was. And, as someone else pointed out, does Peter HAVE to personally know every villain he comes up against?

honestly the only one i watch allot is number 1 i find SM2 too long with bad chemistry between the characters. number 3 i do enjoy (i advise watching the fanedit spiderman 3 redemption) i find it entertaining mainly the black suit scenes however to me those 3 have been destroyed by ASM which is what i wanted from the original despite some annoying changes to the story.

Spider-Man 3 How It Should Have Ended - YouTube <<<watch this hoe spiderman 3 should have ended brilliant lol

Funny someone created this thread recently. I saw SM2 last night again to see if this is still my favorite, and I hate to say it but ASM is IMO the best Spiderman to date. I hate saying that because I wasn't even remotely blown away by ASM, but watching SM2 again made me realize that the only thing I really loved was the villain - Alfred Molina being brilliant as Doc Ock - and the fight sequences between Spidey and Doc being the best of that trilogy.

The acting and fight sequences were the only things I really liked in ASM. In terms of fight scenes, hands-down ASM beats out the entire Raimi trilogy, SM2 included. What killed ASM for me was the narrative (though I felt SM1 and SM2 weren't a huge improvement in this department) and Ifans' Connors/Lizard being pretty forgettable. While I didn't like Raimi's take on the Goblin, it's hard to deny the fact that both Dafoe and Molina were fantastic.

It's simply hard to stomach the high cheese factor in the OG trilogy in today's standards, in an era when successful CBMs are being taken more seriously. Even Avengers, which had its share of cheese, was not even remotely close to being as cheesy as the Raimi trilogy. And it's also hard to not roll your eyes when watching Tobey and Kristen in their respective roles, now that we've seen what a huge improvement Garfield and Stone were.

When Peter had the black costume instead of becoming more aggressive. He was like more milk an cookies movie was a fail.

I liked it.
Unfortunately I saw the trilogy as the story of Harry rather than Peter Parker. From humble origin, to fall and eventual redemption. I try and not take specific elements of a movie and make it reason NOT to like it,I just blank the dance scene.

As for cheese, well as a long time comic reader (why oh why do I still punish myself so!!) I would say cheese was an essential factor.

Don't go off topic with this, but this reminds me....am I the only one who thought X-men 3 wasn't horrible?

But SM3, did not enjoy it, except for sandman

As everyone said so far Spider-Man 3 is full of all kinds of stupid but most of all what I found really really dumb was the concept of the main villain.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 villains are similar. A brilliant scientist is psychologically damaged and gains super strength in an experiment gone wrong. In the context of Spider-Man's world that's all very believable.

Then there's the Spider-Man 3 main villain. A blob of alien space jelly drops from the sky [right next to Peter Parker!] and turns into clothes! WTF?!? That is beyond idiotic. It doesn't ring true at all.

I read that Raimi didn't want to use that villain [I guess because he could see how lame and unnecessary it was] but the studio insisted because it was what all the internet fanboys were crying out for. If its true that such a ridiculous monster was forced into his film then no surprise if Raimi lost heart and threw together a confused and soulless mess of a film. Very sad turn of events because a movie with just Sandman and the new Goblin made in the spirit of the first two movies could have been fantastic.
