Revolution

Let's hope they don't pull a Bioware and go with a Star child like happened to explain everything in Mass Effect 3 where all modern societies are culled with only the most basic ones allowed to evolve. I wasn't impressed with the Ember books, they had potential but were really dumbed down for readers not to mention the whole Ember being the only city made no sense...and seemed like a ripoff of the Vaults of Fallout.

Anyhow this show seems to be a mashup of stuff and a lot of the stuff is pure fantasy or just badly thought out. As for the EMP it would mess up newer car starters, and some even back into the 80s, but i doubt that would give people with some tinkering ability to come up with a bypass. I'm really not impressed by Abrams as this show could have had a lot of potential but it just falls flat like Jericho did.

I think EMP's are overrated. I looked it up once and a few miles away from an average nuclear explosion will have minimal effect. I have not watched the pilot yet but he trailer implied it was something that permanently suppresses electricity except for who ever caused it. Guess I better watch it now.

The only way to have EMP effect a large area is to fire it off in the upper atmosphere which is why during the cold war both sides looked into EMP satellites. If you do it in the upper atmosphere it magnifies the effect so it can hit a larger area but Norman's right it wouldn't do much if it's in the lower atmosphere than maybe a few miles and if you're that close to one the source would probably kill you before the emp did (unless you have a pace maker).

I'll be able to tell if this show will be hit or miss just in the 1st episode like Tera Nova which I didn't even bother watching the full first episode it was terrible and I said it would be canceled and by the lords of Kobol it was Lol.

Hey, if you have an Apple TV can watch the full Pilot episode now as a FREE Download! I just checked it out in full 1080p HD. Enjoyable, yes, but well see if this new series can stay on the air long enough to tell its story before cancellation.

Interesting concept, horrible execution. I cannot stand "pretty teens" in super clean clothes during a collapsed society. Who ever was in charge of costumes and make up failed completely. After five days in the woods I get dirty hair and dirt on my boots... But apparently this show folks after fifteen years look like they did the day before the "event".

Okay I watched this last night and already feel the word cancellation forming out of my mouth, So many things bugged me already like what's with the old civil war rifles all of a sudden it's easier to find these than a hunting rifle or shotgun? and when they walked to Chicago where did they start from? they are some walking fools Lol. Maybe it will get better but when you see things that don't make sense in the begining you kind of lose hope.

I enjoyed the pilot episode last night. I think it's a good story and can overlook some of its head scratchers. Like clean cloths and hair. I'm pretty sure people had clean cloths and hair before washing machines and shampoo. And muzzle loaders, people still use those today. I'm sure after 15 years, ammo could be hard to find.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I'm surprised no one posted anything about this. Did anyone else catch the series premiere of Revolution on NBC last night? What did you think? Not terrible, but pretty cliche.

Also, I swear they shot two scenes in the same location Walking Dead shot.

Saw it on demand for a sneak preview about a week ago. I liked it, as you said pretty cliche' and the science is off. Other than that I will check it out for a season and see how it goes.

I worked on this pilot for 3 days back in March. It was hell.

Neat to see at least for a few minutes the cul-de-sac that we put so much time and effort into, though.

I have no interest in seeing any more episodes.

The subdivision looked good. The Prius garden was funny.

I agree with the influences everyone else saw in the Pilot, but the main"rip-off" I could see was from the Hunger Games movie. It was almost like the premise had been floating around for a while, & when HG hit, someone pitched-

"picture a long-haired girl in her mid-to-late teens. She's dressed in a leather jacket with high boots & has a bow-like weapon strapped across her back. Now picture her hunting in the woods so she can provide for her family, Then, suddenly, her sibling is taken by the evil, totalitarian government, so she has to use her skills to save her entire way of life, which may turn out to be a lie.

BTW...America is coming around to the "We're not horrified with the kids killing kids" idea, so...there's that.

Now, see if we can shoe-horn your whole "post-Apocalyptic, World Has No Way of Producing Power" idea to explain why she has to hunt & has some skills in something other than texting, but since there's no texting, let's give her a step-mom she can rebel against so every teen knows that no matter the situation you find yourself in, rebellion is the only way to cope.

Somebody call JJ."

Did I mention that I liked the Book of Eli influenced fight scenes?
