Republic Commando - TZA Armor

Yep. And recasting too.
What I have recast? Define recasting!!!!
You mean the top copy of a really bad originals? Mmmm
A recast is often worse as the original, not better. :)
And will be sold without the inventor to ask. I do not do such a thing.
The TZA-Team is recasting. Proof: The front attachments from the helmet. The originals are from PA!!!

The helmet looks gr8.
Wait. ;)

It continues.

For my project I have bought a 12" x 18" Hobby Vacuum Former, because I must be formed plastic parts in ABS.

First of all the backpack boxes were vacuum formed. Unfortunately I have the version 1 of the TZA-backpack without boxes.

The mold was made of MDF and has a deep recessed grip.

At positions of the boxes, the excess material of the backpack was removed. The boxes were trimmed and glued on the backpack.

Top of the backpack the left and right notches were cut out for the later closure clips.

Front attachments for the helmet? You're openly accusing TZA of recasting here even though you yourself directly threatened to recast our armor parts and helmet unless we gave into your unreasonable demands!

Be very careful, you've already created a rod for your own back.

You certainly have skill in assembling and modifying the kit. That is not in doubt. But your personal vendetta against TZA make you appear bitter and more than a little foolish. It's a sad thing to see.

do you plan to make the add ons light and radio as shown in the pic below ?
I don't know. Perhaps. We will see. ;)

Mmmmm. You need a pic proof? Here:

The white one is from TZA, the greys is from PA.
Judgments themselves.

...and helmet unless we gave into your unreasonable demands!
Do you want back the TZA helmet version 1??

Be very careful, you've already created a rod for your own back.
Is that a threat???

If you will permit an amateur to step in for a moment

We 're dont come here for a war of words fellas, we come to see show and appreciate prop works. Lets take a step back and have a breather for a sec huh.

Lets let cooler heads prevail...

My head is very cool thank you. :)

But I cannot sit back any longer while this person publicly trashes us. Not just our kit(we all have various opinions and I respect that), but us personally. We have dealt with Ligonap in the past and we know exactly what he's all about so I think I'm quite within my rights to acknowledge his remarks as other before me had done. ;)

My understanding on the aerator part for the helmet was that it originated from the DXFR helmets which were available before PA kits were even available?

But you are coming here(after losing posting rights for a while at Clonetroopers.net) and doing the exact same thing. Showing your progress but also slagging every part of our kit off. We never claimed to be the best, but everyone else who has out kit has been happy with it. All except you.

Funny that after we refused to hand over my 3D models for you to try and CNC your own parts. Rember now, I keep all emails I receive and yours are no different. I can back myself up and have no problem doing it here if you so choose.

I don't feel the need to threaten you, why do you ask? Do you feel threatened?

Yes, I feel me threatened!
My Garrison Leader is inform of you, included of all emails.

Garrison Leader? Ok but I really don't know what good that will do you. I'm not 501st so such "threats" do not intimidate me chum. ;)

Carry on with your build but kindly stop slagging off our kit. It is unwarranted. Fine, if you don't like it that is your personal opinion, but coming here trying to convince everyone that it's bad is very bad form indeed.

The 501st doesn't interfere with prop wars going on! Informing a CO wouldn't do anything.

While I agree that some remarks may sound overly offensive I also think people should appreciate criticism to their work. I don't want to defend Axel's way of presenting some of his opinions about certain armor makers as I have a different opinion how to interact.

However I know Axel as a very determined builder with great skills and very innovative solutions to certain problems. As for the accusation he recasted a helmet - I have witnessed his hard and extensive work of his version and can say that there was a developing process creating his model which I and others have witnessed during skype sessions where he asked us about our feedback.

If you ask me the dispute here is a matter of communication skills and different cultural ways dealing with criticism and pride.
Locking down Axel wouldn't help anyone refining aspects of our work even if he might be understood as an uncomfortable and provocative person.
I have seen many of these in the hobby being tolerated as well...
It's probably just a matter of who is who.

Of course I have no idea about the previous incident in CTN or the private mailings but I know him and I also understand that his determined character and his demands to the hobby and perfection are too much for a lot of people to bear with. Driving of such people is an easy solution to satisfy oneself but it won't help the evolution of our hobby.

@ Axel:
If I can give you a recommendation of mine - keep out of recasting debates.
There is no gain trying to uncover or protect such people. It just ends in a "who is who" competition with no benefit. do you have any advantage out of accusing TZA of recasting? - I don't think so.
If they recast it is the problem of those who did the original parts but in general people should stop playing deputy in open claims and campaigns.
Copycats usually don't achieve the quality of their originals or need modifications ending up as extensively worked up own products - so let the market decide what's hot and what's not.

Just continue with your great work and concentrate explaining how you solve problems - there is no need to confront certain armor makers just because you think or found out about errors in their works but so much to learn.
People with the in depth knowledge will realize that themselves and draw their conclusions.

I hope this will not end up in a lock down though it would be only a loss for this community I think.

I had decided to develop my own RC helmet for my TZA armor.
Today I want to show the result of all my efforts.

As software I used Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 (modeling) and 3DRipperDX (game extraction).
I had previously never worked with 3D software.
In the Dezember 2010 I started with the 3D information from the game (not epilogue):

kcqpfadr.jpg

551 Faces

These 551 faces was the base for the modeling.
Step by step I increased the number of the faces.

nydg25kx.jpg

4020 Faces

6mldja6z.jpg

11360 Faces

After smoothing some parts, I created a solid for a 3D printer.

7kinaviu.jpg

22356 Faces

After a detailed analysis of the game epilogue and some other sources, I changed few parts of the back and of the sides.
For the accurate scalling of the RC helmet I used the sizes of the game helmets (RC vs. AotC), the Master Replicas RotS
Clone Trooper helmet and the eFX Collectibles AotC Clone Trooper helmet. In addition, the attachments were modeled.

A RC-Hero-Helmet arose:

gyo8t25z.jpg

77946 Faces

After 15 days ago I got the 3D printing. The RC-Hero-Helmet is made of polyamide with a wall thickness of 2mm.
Some parts were carefully sanded by a sheet (grade 120).

Is is a absolutely perfect helmet for a reproduction. I am satisfied. :)

THIS was PRINTED on a 3D Printer??? How big is the printer and more importantly how much does the thing cost? And do you own one or was it done elswhere the printing?

Selective laser sintering was used to print the helmet. This technique is perfect to print big ones. I printed one helmet. I will use it as a master mold for a small rotocast run. :)

The backpack is almost finished.

The both handles and both clips have been added.
