Welcome to the RPF Tiggs.

Well, it depends on what they are and who makes them. Some are really cool (eg the Blade Runner ones).

The terminator ones i'd get. I mostly go for the video games with the props although I wouldn't mind that bladerunner set.

Hi folks,

Yeah the links above show some of what I was discussing at the start of the thread.

Are they decent replicas?? i see some of the work here and it astounds me and some of the collectors rooms are amazing.

I kinda until know concentrated on the movies with the limited edition sets, not just blade runner and terminator but anything i can find really.

I suppose I can justify them lol if they are a DVD box set :)

I would say that it really depends on your own level of interest in the movie and the prop, but the same can be said about any individual prop that is available from sources other than the DVD sets.

For the most part, the props that come bundled with the DVD's/BluRay's are NOT going to be accurate.

Are they good enough? Well, that depends on you & your wallet ;)

I have the T2 6 Disc Limited Edition + Endoskull BluRay Amazon.com: Terminator 2 (Six-Disc Limited Edition Set + Endoskull Bust) [Blu-ray]: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong: Movies & TV I paid $75 for it shipped on sale a few months back.

I really like it. Are there more accurate versions? Yes, there are. Much more accurate, and they carry a hefty price tag along with it $500 + USD. I loved the movie T2 and would love to have one of those more accuate versions, but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money on it. So, for now I'm happy with the version that came with the BluRay. It's good enough for me. But there are some very enthusiastic T2 collectors out there who will nit-pick the hell out of the version I have, and that's fine for them.

I'd say just do your research. Compare other versions of the props you are interested in to the version that come with the discs. See which you like better and which one you just gotta' have. Most of the props that come with discs will impress 99% of the people out there who are NOT on this forum. But most of us are sticklers for detail. Regardless, these look great on a shelf in a media room! Welcome to the RPF!

True alot of the props they give out aren't that accurate, same with some game props, because they're meant to be a novelty and most people aren't as picky as people on here. If it is something that would be hard to make in a limited run it might be worth it.

Yes detail, is something I've seen alot on this forum, awe inspiring stuff.
I think ill take some photos of some of the box sets i have for example, Dances with wolves journal and so on :)

Interesting to see that You guys have some of the dvd sets I was talking about though :)

Wasn't the I-robot japanese exclusive supposed to be pretty accurate?

That dances with wolves journal sounds pretty cool, except... you don't even know how to read Spivey! :lol :angel

Hey Tigger, speaking of Tigger and fabricators,

did you guys know that the guy that did the voice of tigger invented the pacemaker.

Weird Eh?

some LOTR dvd sets come with a replica of the One Ring, but I can't assure if those replicas are good quality ones.

I havent seen the lotr boxset with the one ring, sounds intriguing!! Thanks for the reponses to the thread!

Seems like I found a home!! :) Looking forward to sharing with you guys...

Here's my I-Robot replica. I have one of the two removable panels off in this photo, I subsequently pulled off the 2nd one to reveal more robot internals. I think this was a really good replica, the "skin" is translucent and semi-transparent, IMHO pretty screen accurate.

Don't forget the "Book of the Dead" edition of "The Evil Dead", with its own replica of the Necronomicon.

Other than looking really cool, and somewhat accurate, I heard those Necronomicons were junk. The foam they used to make em would start to disintigrate within a year if you took the plastic off.

I got a few of those dvd props. Like the Hancock dvd that came with the knit cap. A good cap, but not the most screen accurate. Also got the Dragon Wars dvd that came with a replica of the medalion from the film. Crappy movie, and the medalion, while very screen accurate, was a very cheap plastic. Even the jewel in it was plastic. And I got the Dark Knight dvd that came with the Two Face coin. A really good metal replica, if you can overlook the etched word "copy" in the clean side. I missed out on the Hellboy set that came with the BPRD logo belt buckle. Something I kick myself for everytime i think about it.

Not necessarily true. My copy of the Book of the Dead hasn't even shown any sign of falling apart, and it's been years since the plastic was removed off of it. I guess I'm really lucky about that.
