**I apologize if this is in the wrong section!**

Hello RPF! So At some point in the future I'd like to turn one of the rooms in my house into a
70's style Sci-Fi type thing, The only problem Is I have zero Idea how sets of that era were made.
I'm assuming they were of wood construction? How could I achieve such uniform shapes? Any
information would be awesome! I've included some pictures of exactly the style I'm going for as reference.

For such a task I think MDF will be your friend. 2440mm by 1220mm sheets with most thicknesses available from 3mm to 25mm. Easy to cut and uniform in shape with no wood grain to try and disguise. Easily paintable and stable as long as you dont get it wet. But perfect for an indoor room. Then get some frosted plexy glass and back lighters for the lit panels. Should look good when done.

Hope that helps.

exactly what he said, get a decent router, a good saw with a good blade and learn about LED lighting. Test different plexi such as clear, tinted, frosted, frost your own clear with bead blasting/sanding... If you design ahead, come up with a plan, sit on it for a week then revisit the design youll think up changes and other ways to do things. If you think ahead, youll be able to disguise a flat screen TV on a wall with tinted plexi in other matching panels around it. Lighting is as key as the design itself. Too much and its cheese, too little and its droll.
Keep in mind movie sets are designs with action, actors, camera and lighting involved. This is why so many walls or ceiling and even floors have lighting in them. The idea is in the future light is just there, never a lamp or fixture.

lots of frosted plexiglass glass. MDFis good stuff asdopppleganger said but be sure to use it where its foot traffic appropriate MDF id not as durable as plywood so if your going to build anything that will come into contact with a lot of people i would opt for the latter.

one of the mainstays in clasic 70s sci-fi movies http://www.therpf.com/member.php?u=149370 is lots and lots of plastic palettes. used for flooring walls and ceilings they give a "industrial space age" look rather than the "utopian space age" look you seem to be going for but still something to consider

A film that you should check out is "Space Station 76", a black comedy set on board a space station. The space station's design is a nod to all those 1970s sci-fi films and series - mostly white/cream, with lots of curve-cornered oblongs and frosted lighting panels.
