anyone here have experience repainting mannequins?

i want to get one in a specific shade, but it is only offered in flesh tone. i was hoping for a matte black color.

im just worried that if i repaint it using krylon or something, that the paint will rub off on the costume it will display (its a pretty tight costume).

any helps appreciated.

I've no specific experience with repainting mannequins, but I think if you sandpaper the mannequin all over with a fine-grit sandpaper (to help the paint stick, and also less likelihood of it coming off on the costume), then spraypaint in 2 or 3 light coats of matte black.
Then as a final safeguard I'd spraypaint it with matte clearcoat, and leave the whole thing to dry for 3 or 4 weeks... just in case the fumes would taint the colour of your costume.

HTH,
John
