RENEW! Logan's Run Carousel Masks. (Work in progress/ DONE!)

Hi, guys! Been a little slammed with almost zero on-line time.

Just poking my head out to quickly share a project I'm messing with while the paint's drying on other jobs.

I've owned a couple of screen used death masks over the years; they were both pretty much identical with the exception of slight differences in the hot-wire cut holes, angles on the eyes... Pretty much what you'd expect for hand work.

Anyway, the original promakers altered an early 70's hockey mask for their master buck prior to thermoforming the masks in white ABS.

After having recently located the correct vintage mask I've decided pull a few following the same recipe.

Here's a peek at the vintage mask as I'm filling in the vents and eyes.

(More soon as time permits)

Give that man a flashing red crystal!

Rylo, those are looking fantastic. Looking forward to seeing them finished.

I guess I am a Runner since I am over 40.

There were some directions somewhere about how to make and attach the hood...I *think* it was something Bjo Trimble had put in one of her fanzines a long time ago. Im going to have to get one of these.

What a great idea! Why has nobody thought of this before...

I tried this exact thing a few years ago, remember? I filled in all the holes, did a pull, re cut the holes ect, but I couldn't get it to look right.

To me, the Mylec mask looks completely different in profile to the one used in the movie, what do you think?

I'd love to get an accurate one!

Tain669, google Vintage 1970's Tony Esposito hockey goalie mask and you will have it . I always loved the old style masks.

UPDATE: Here's a pic of a quick and dirty test pull from earlier today. I've since corrected a couple soft spots in my buck making for cleaner pulls. The .060 ABS matches up w/ the originals I've owned rather nicely. :thumbsup

I'll get some better (final) pics up as time permits.

Lastday, Capricorn 29's. Year of the City: 2274. Carousel begins.

Rylo,

Brilliant! I keep going back to that picture.

Very interesting read you posted in your JY thread about the originals. Thanks.
