Red Lightsaber Knobs

Hey everyone, I'm new to the RPF, so glad to be around.

I'm just beginning a Star Wars Replica site, and am going to try and expand my 'customs' section. I am focusing on Prequel Trilogy style, as they are relativly easy to make and honestly easier to design.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew what the red twist knobs used on lightsabers in TPM-ROTS were?

They can be seen very well on Darth Maul's lightsaber, as seen here:

All along the hilt

and here:

Wierd looking, but it gets the point across

I THINK they're brass of some sort, but I was wondering if you guys knew where to get them and if I would have to apply the red paint myself.

Thanks,

Danny

They are getting very rare.
I tried looked and looked for them and even looked for some resin ones and just gave up.

So, please if you find any let us all know. Could be kinda profitable for someone.

Is Roman completely out of them?
He did a large run of perfect ones.

I sent out an email to Roman, hopefully he'll have a stockpile.

I'm searching for a few possible sources, evidently VERY similar knobs are used in custom computers, try searching for those. Anotized knobs in google.

Hopefully I get a response from someone in a few days. Even if they're different colors, painting them wouldnt be so terrible.

Also, I MAY be able to replicate them, although I'm not sure how hard a screw would be to machine. Either way, I'll post what comes up.

If you're just looking for knurled knobs for custom sabers there's a million places to find those. Search thumbscrew.
If you want red knobs exact in every detail to the original movie ones then email Roman.

Computer case thumbscrews are not "VERY" similar, but they will be way cheaper than correct buttons.

A few runs of less exact ones have been made before the exact type was found, including a run by Roman.
Jedi-Vic made a run a long time ago of pretty good buttons but with incorrect knurling. Luuke also made a run once, but his knobs were smaller. I think Roman's second-to-last type was the most accurate before that.

If Roman does not have any left, then I suggest you post WTB thread on various forums. Chances are that people have started with less accurate knobs and later upgraded to Roman's latest one but kept the old ones in a box somewhere.

Like these?

I was lucky enough to acquire these (I work on aircraft). The painted ones are the way they come sometimes on hydraulic parts, plus some clown scribed a pizza wheel on one. I had it saved in my favorites as far as a site that sold them. Might be Romans, but it doesn't come up now. I tried quickly on e-bay but no luck as of yet.

last i heard from roman, he shut his site down, and i dont know if it will go up again, so only way to reach him right now, is by forum, or email.

Hi guys...

I have about two dozen left. More or less. They are red anodized and ran $14 plus shipping. Fell free to PM me if interested. :)
