RED ALERT Lost 3 ft TOS Enterprise found????

From Mike Okuda’s Instagram a few minutes ago.

This has been an amazing story to watch. I saw the auction within 30 minutes of it going up when someone posted a link on a FB group and I've been following it ever since.

I was really heartened when Drexler answered my question "Have you heard anything about the 33" model lately?" with a mysterious "Yes" a few weeks ago.

It would be nice if the model was a bit better shape but it's just fantastic that it has been found at all. I always thought it still existed, somewhere, and would likely turn up when whoever had possession of it died.

Now, who wants to make some really accurate replica's of the 33" instead of the 11 footer?

Honestly, I would argue we authenticated it here that first day, like in hours. LOL I was convinced by a barely visable imperfection in the saucer that matched both. Absolutely nobody would have noticed that in the vintage photo to make a fake. But I guess we don't issue RPF certificates of authenticity. LOL

I’m still wondering who appointed the Okudas as an The Official Authority on all things STAR TREK. When, in reality, they’re just ascended fans with fannish tendencies who’ve gotten their hooks into everything.

Well that's a pretty ****** take. I mean he only designed the LCARS interface on The Next Generation that's pretty much been in use since.

I’m reasonably sure that working on the later series didn’t give them the credentials or authority to subsequently be involved in EVERYTHING, including their arbitrary CG tweaks to TOS, etc.

Considering the people whose opinions DO matter consider him to be a reliable and credible source, I'd say that's a wee bit more important than you being petulant that he's been consulted.

Ah so you are bitter over that...lol...

The Okudas are cool. The CGI in TOS remastered may not be all that great but they are good talented people and love and respect Trek.

I'm wondering if the storage unit people took it to the Auction house to have it appraised and auctioned off but the auction house could not do it because it was something never returned to the owner. So Rod offered them a bit of cash as a finders fee..
Either that or Rod suggested they take it to an auction house for appraisal...lol

He worked on the TOS movies 4-6 as well, as I'm sure you know. Better them than many other choices. And they did the best they could with time and budget they had for TOS remastered.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. The storage unit buyer sends it to Heritage and now Heritage turns it over to Rod. I hope the guy who bought the unit got something out of it.

I believe the model was inspected and authenticated by experts long before it was even made public to be in existence.

I don't think so. The storage unit buyer obviously did not know what he had when he posted the auction. He just tossed it up on eBay with all the other crap he got from storage units
