RED ALERT Lost 3 ft TOS Enterprise found????

Someone mentioned earlier that it looks like black electrical tape was used to "improve" the windows. The original model had them painted dark gray and you can still see that.
Maybe so, what about the little numbered hull markings? I can see someone enhancing replacing the windows easily enough but that two of the 3 sets at least on the starboard sided seem to have shifted back into a different position falling under different windows. Even if those did someone wear away seems less obvious they would be replaced.

I'm sold on this as the original model I'm just curious what all happened to it from there to here.

...I'm now saying that if someone recently damaged it while trying to clean it, then that would surely warrant a repair/restoration, since it's no longer in the condition it was when found.

Just sayin'.
You mean, when lost, don't you? Or do you think the seller attempted to clean it up for sale and stopped when he realized he was fracking it up more?

If ILM did file an insurance claim on the item, and was made whole under the claim, the insurance carrier now has rights of recovery for the item.
Maybe. It would depend in large part on the terms of the insurance policy and whether ILM transferred ownership of the model to the insurance company during the settlement of the claim. In many property theft cases, payment of the claim only entitles the insurance company to recover the amount of the settlement. Legal ownership of the item may still reside with the insured.

It's not clear if, strictly speaking, ILM could be "made whole" by monetary compensation alone for the loss of an item of such significance to the company. Especially given the extraordinary price someone was willing to pay for that artifact.

I think that's what he means. I said the same thing earlier. There is no way that big whiter wiped spot on the top of the lower hull happen years ago. It's too white. Probably did it right before he took the pictures. With the alleged pine sol sitting on the floor....he wasn't too good at covering his tracks...lol

I also feel it needs a further restoration now that the 44 year patina has been totally decimated.
