RED ALERT Lost 3 ft TOS Enterprise found????

It's a distinct possibility we'll never see it again, if it was pulled for fear of legal action.
Okay, seriously, I think it was pulled for a variety of reasons, maybe some of them legal. You can't sell a stolen item. IF it was indeed stolen. Statute of limitations... or, more profit to be made on the up & up with it? Could be the seller is actually a Trek fan that wants the best for what he hadn't realized was a piece of history.... we shall see...

Sooooo has anyone messaged the seller on eBay to ask them what's happened?

Folks, we've made contact with the seller and are in the process of connecting him with the right people to verify, and get this home to the right place. Incredible night, and I hope we have some good news as this develops.

Wow. Huge find. They pulled the listing. It's been missing for years and some speculated that it was unlawfully taken. I wonder what the story is and how this person got it and if they realized how valuable it was. Hopefully it gets in the hands of the Smithsonian. They restore it and place it in the case with the full sized....

I wonder if Rod Roddenberry threatened a lawsuit, thats why it ended early? he has been looking for it.

I want to think people can settle things like people and not go for lawfare right away. However... If you were a money only person making your living this way, and you found that in a storage unit you bought the contents of... learn it's worth millions when you try to sell it. You might seek legal council about ownership first because... millions. Could change your entire life and family for the better.

Will be interesting to see how this goes down. I fully expect many months before we hear anything official.

As the surviving heir, Rod is surely legally entitled to take possession of it, so it's good that he was contacted, and the auction stopped.

Although I find myself wondering if Gene legally acquired the model, back in the day. Remember all those film trims which he cleared out of the studio vault, and sold through Lincoln Enterprises?

I presume that he either bought or was gifted the model, but you never do know.

It would be mind-blowing if this turned into a legal battle between Rod and CBS/Paramount.

This whole thing is gonna be one for the ages. Whoever put it on eBay probably didn't even realize what they had. They just saw Datin's card on the bottom and added that info to the listing, which tipped off the fans who made a fuss over it and contacted the experts.

The past 24 hours have been wild.

This is incredible and how fast things evolved!
I did not know the 33" was used in the show. This picture interests me because the nacelle end caps clearly have the ball at the end.

It has always been my understanding that the way you could ID the 33" model is that the rear endcaps were detailed like this

That the 11 foot filming model for the 1st pilot had no detail at all.

After the two pilots, the three-footer was modified to generally match the changes made to the 11-footer for series production.

Hopefully when all is sorted out, the model will get a minor restoration...clean off the dirt, fix the mounting points of the nacelles and neck then LEAVE IT ALONE. All too often these restorations result in several individuals who have no right even touching the model, changing things to serve their egos. Clean it up, yes...CAREFULLY, but leave it alone. My 2 cents.

Haha. This is true.

In addition to a clean up, remount Nacelles/Neck and reattach the sensor dome....Maybe touch up the spots where paint has worn off??
