Recasters page on FaceBook

In other words I totally disagree with copying someones hard work no matter is made by a person here or any other board or from the studios.

If you read my postings I said you might as well put all the people that copy items on that page as well as people who copy from screen used items, IN MY OPINION IT IS WRONG.

Just because its from the studio still don't make it right. Many people here believe copying screen used is okay to do so, in my mind its still recasting!

SO PLEASE PEOPLE STOP TWISTING MY WORDS AROUND! I ***G HATE RECASTERS NO MATTER COPIED FROM SCREEN USED OR NOT!

Jeez.......why can't people understand wtf I'm trying to say.
 
Well if nothing else comes out of the page and this thread at least sellers know to be careful of folks.

So you only purchase and collect licensed or original pieces then?

By my post count, I haven't been here long enough to build much Kudos and it would seem that posting negative comments in the questionable thread is also a no-no. Time to slither back into the black of the forum :ninja and carefully dodge the re-casters & copiers. I can do without the hassle.

Though it would seem to be a larger outcry coming from folks who do make copies of replicas readily available without a license...you cannot actually say that...Where's your proof? (It's like throwing stones at the bigger kids).

There is also a lot of misunderstanding in relation to what is actually acceptable to make and sell. On the whole, one-of replicas sold as such is OK to do, but when the seller goes into production lines are crossed.

I do get what Sabermasters is trying to say. Perhaps we are just advertising the negatives more by bringing attention to them...Forums like this one are bound to be riddled with folks who are making and selling stuff they should not. BUT not to say anything, IMO is also wrong. To inform our fellows of any wrong doing is helping to sustain the rightful owner's income.

Threads like this should be sticky'ed so at least folks can make an informed choice of the products they choose to buy.

well you told me i can not offer a map that is hand made(paper hand aged, based on my own reference file, hand drawn in pencil, inked and weathered) and made in a totally different way than a licensed prop (which is printed, and also has one very different detail with the black backside for the moonrunes).
and i still dont see how that would be any different to any of the existing iron man cast runs (to use a popular item as an example), which is also a licensed item. that is also the reason that your posts were removed.

also, you called me a pirate. So, i guess im a pirate ;)

its a difference if you use someone elses work and just copy it or if you do your research, make your own stuff, and do it in your own fashion that is different from the licensed one.
otherwise you would be saying anyone who sculpts an iron man helmet and offers casts is not allowed to do so either.
and then the junkyard would be rather pointless.

theres a fine line between building a prop and recasting. just make sure you allways stay on the right side

Apart from the recasting discussion, I think most reactions on sabermasters' and vader45's comments are way out of proportion. The only correct reaction I read here is "Guys, the recasting topic has been discussed already. No need to discuss it again in this thread." Why not leave it at that? I don't see why people have to start accusing these guys of recasting (without ANY proof), threatening that their accounts are watched by mods, that they will never be able to buy things from certain people, etc... Is the RPF such an intolerant community that opinions that deviate from the "community opinion" have to be bashed this way? I see members with thousands of posts, give reactions that disappoints me. I thought the "spirit" of the RPF was more mature and more tolerant.

Please not that I did not give ANY opinion about recasting in the above comment. I only gave a comment about the behavior towards members with another opinion (whether they have a high post-count or not). That's all...
 
Well, I dunno who it is but they're talking right out of their butt when they accuse my old site Proptopia as a haven for recasters. That just came out of nowhere. Until the recent revamp that site's been dormant for almost four years.

As far as I know, anyone who got caught recasting was immediately banned indefinitely.

The end.

Somebody needs a fact checker and to maybe think before they post.
 
I noticed that post on Facebook as well! I thought it was giving reference to a list of banned recasters! Which it does have a list of.

However! It is not a welcome mat FOR recasters! It is a very informative sight!

I guess I'm just sticking up for Protopia, as a legitimate site! Not a harbor for RECASTERS!

This is why the whole recaster accusation stuff bothers me. It rapidly can turn into a witch hunt. Dangerous, dangerous game when you go all out accusing.
 
For the fun of it, I just checked eBay to see if anyone may have recast on of my items and lo and behold I see someone using my item and my picture of my item. My face flushes and my heart skips a beat. I click on the link, ever more frustrated, and the person selling it is even from the same damn city as me... then I realize it's my own damn listing.

I actually laughed out loud at myself.
