RECASTER ALERT: TIM GRAY ebay id timothyagray/spaceageprops

Re: Is ebay seller timothyagray a recaster ?

It is only a matter of time cross checking a few things.
We have a possible name. We know he is in either France or Shefford, United Kingdom.
He is selling on eBay France, but lists the location as Shefford, United Kingdom. We just need to explore both right now.
So it will just take some poking around on the site here and Internet. Possibly have the mods check records.

We will get him and get him tossed ;)

How about more info from his own listings :lol

Re: Is ebay seller timothyagray a recaster ?

To me it's just pitiful. It won't have any effect on me sharing anything on here, it's always a possibility this can happen, this is nothing new. I share when I can because a lot of others have done the same. Like dbuck said, make $10 a month, why bother? I'd much rather have friendship and be trusted on here, much more fun. Not telling anyone else to just take things from here and throw up on ebay, but I really don't even care that it happened.

Well said, I agree with you completely on that.

Re: Is ebay seller timothyagray a recaster ?

I have to say I'm stuck somewhere in the middle, and acting as devils advocate for a moment I have a few points to make - but must point out I don't necessarilly (and I can't spell) agree with them - if that makes any sense at all ?

1, If you post a prop for free, why should someone source the right materials, print it, age it, sell it if your "giving it away" ?
2. there has to be some sort of extra moderation for paper based props as these are the only ones on the sites that are readily available to reporduce yourself.
3. set up a download page, or free account on mediafire, dropbox or simular site, you can set up one off download links and monitor your own files, members must then PM you for a link
4. If your not going to sell it, why bother complaining

just a few questions to ask, again these may not be my views but someone might like an answer and you know who I'm talking about don't you Sir....

As for my contributions to the forum they will continue....

Made sense to me buddy :)

How about more info from his own listings ....
That looks like a business address. The address his website is registered to lists a 'Unit 1' at the farm. For any history fans, here is what the Council say about it: http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/Comm...ommunityArchives/Clifton/CliftonBuryFarm.aspx

He actually appears to live 10 miles away in Barton-Le-Clay (with a phone number ending in 690). He lives with Julie who's in her 50s, like Tim, and Rebekah (in her 20s). Oh and also with his tabby cat (I didn't find an age for the cat). I don't want to post the full detail here, but I have everything I have alluded to.

A funny thing is that according to his Vimeo profile he is an 'Animator/Compositor/Designer and I am looking for freelance or full-time work', so you'd think he could draw his own paper props and maybe even contribute to the community.

I think some people are in the train of thoguht why do it again when someone else has done it, but its more fun knowing you done it yourself and more rewarding too

Re: Is ebay seller timothyagray a recaster ?

... AND HOW ABOUT THAT "SCREEN ACCURATE" BTTF CLOCK TOWER FLYER?
IT IS DARK BLUE :lol. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I guess his ideas on screen accurate is different.

It's my file he used for this flyer. I make it very easy for the people to print it accurate (different paper sizes etc.). But those recaster guys still print it wrong. :lol

I really think it's mostly a matter of ethics. I approach the Paper Props section as a place for fans to share replica paper props for free so that other RPF members may print the props off for their own personal collections. NOT for making profit.

If someone posts a BTTF clock tower flyer, Indiana Jones Journal, Jurassic Park brochure, etc. in the Paper Props thread, go ahead, print it off, frame it, and hang it in your movie room at home. Just don't sell it or try to make profit off of it. In the eyes of the RPF, that's just plain unethical.

Because it's not theirs to sell?

Like George Lucas allowing his fans to make fan-films even fan-film trilogies WITH theater screenings, just one small condition: can't make any money off of it.

I have changed the title of the thread to reflect the first informations that have been found about this guy.
Tim now that it's clear that you are reading this thread and know very well that what you are doing isn't right, maybe it's time to take these listings down.

So far we know that he stole the Indy map from Darth Saber, The Clock Tower Flyer from Roland, the Dark Knight Letter from Luke0312.
I'm pretty sure Doc Brown's 1885 Letters are from DD28, the "You're Fired" and Cusco Card from Roland too.

That's really bad.

My meager contributions to the paper props forum probably aren't going to be stolen or generate a lot of money for anyone, any time soon, (I think I've made 3 or 4 paper props to date)...but it would frustrate me to know that someone was profiting from work that I did to share with others on here, for free.

Thanks for sharin' info on folks like this. I hope this fella' is identified & banned cause' I'd prefer to continue to be able to access the paper props that some very talented people put together on here as they are often beautifully & nearly flawlessly done...whereas my work often looks like it was perhaps done by a minimally talented walrus or sloth. ;)

I must say that what is even more infuriating is that this guy sold like 8 items at 2,99 GBP each last week. That's 23,92 GBP per week (roughly $40/week). At this rate he won't make 100 GBP per month out of it. That's ridiculous ! The risk this guy took for pocket change is insane.

While I agree with what your saying I just have to point out that £100 may be pocket change to some but to others it can mean the difference between feeding your kids or not, please don't think I'm sticking up for this guy because I hate it when others steal peoples work, but no one knows why he has done this, perhaps he is struggling for work and needs any money he can get no matter how little.

All im im saying is shouldn't this be about the ethics of the situation not the money side of things? For example does it matter how much he is making, or is this about the fact that he has stolen others work and making money off them AT ALL?

I'm sure I'll get slated for saying any of this but I am the type of person that looks a little deeper into things than some, and am rarely impressed when people consider certain amounts of money as nothing. For instance I have been struggling for work for some time now due to the current economical climate as a lot of people are, and i am a father of two children with a house to run, and all I'm saying is unless you've been there you don't know how bad it can be and how desperate you become, as I say I'm not condoning recasting as I'd never stoop that low but some believe they have to do anything they can to survive.

let the bashing begin.......:popcorn

I wonder if HMRC know of his business, I will drop them an email to the tip line along with info found :)

Also, he only has 28 feedback. 1 negative will knock him down to around 96% ;)
