Troops on the Tantive IV... Rebels or Senate/Royal Protection?

If they were rebel forces, Leia was caught red handed. If they were Senate/Royal Protection Escorts then why resist Vader boarding?

I would surmise that thet were alderaanian troops and that since they were captured and forcibly borded, they had every right to fight back.

Plus they were tracked from the battle at scarif where the plans were stolen, so they were pretty much toast regardless.

The answer is yes. I think they are Alderaanian royal security of some type officially, but they are Rebels. They tried to repel the boarding because they knew at that point Vader wouldn't buy that they were on diplomatic mission. In Rogue One and the radio play before that, they mention that the Empire tracked them from where they picked up the Death Star plans, so there was no talking their way out this time.
