Rebel Moon

A desperate attempt by Disney to cash grab into the SW universe...It's not SW, but has light sabres and the word 'Rebel' in the title.

It was going to be a SW film then it was decided to make have it's own IP...please.....

What a bunch of BS...lame.

....just watched the trailer....

Haha… this post made my night.

This isn't getting a theatrical release? I'm the one person on Earth who doesn't have Netflix.

It's all good. Just because someone doesn't watch something doesn't mean they can't be the person with the most posts in a particular thread.

Just do what a lot of members do... Look up the haircut Snyder had in 3rd grade, see if you can find his 2nd cousin's 2006 tax returns, & pull up the financial earnings of the last 6 FX houses that worked on his last 9 projects. That info alone will give you more than enough raw data to tell every member why this project will unequivocally be utter trash & the lone reason that all visual media will soon fail.

Worse has been posted with much less intelligence & more supreme confidence in their ignorance.

LOL

I know we only like to cite reviews when they're bashing the Star Wars sequels, but this sounds bad...

"It’s the cinematic equivalent of an NFT."

I don't think that's necessarily true. There's a fair amount who like to crap on Snyder movies as well. LOL

I've never seen one of his movies that I didn't like, but I understand why some don't care for his style.

Not to mention that it's kind of popular to crap on movies and shows these days. Negativity, sadly, is popular nowadays.

Well, pretty much what I was expecting...

After spending the last day or so checking out various spoiler-free reviews, it seems that almost EVERY 'Professional' critic absolutely despises almost everything about this first part of the story. It's currently holding something like 24-26% on RT, with no audience scores yet, of course, since the premiere is still 5 days out.

Interestingly, the non-pro folks that have seen it seemed to range from "really enjoyed", "looking forward to part 2", to full on "Loved everything about it", which is about what I figured.

The really funny thing to me is that whether the movie is liked, loved, disliked, or hated, almost EVERYONE has the same takeaways...

-The movie is 100% Zack Snyder

-It's a combination of Star Wars, Seven Samurai, both the magazine & movie Heavy Metal, with a bit of comic book sensibility

-It lays it's world-building foundations with a lot of spoken exposition, with the promise of seeing it still to come

& Lastly

-If you don't like Zack Snyder movies, YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS ONE

Now the funny thing to me is, almost everyone agrees on this things, but depending on the reviewer, they're framed as either a positive or a negative. For example, I saw two reviews from the same site, with one reviewer calling it a SW-like adventure without having to shoehorn the story into 40-odd years of canon, & the other calling it an expensive SW knockoff. LOL

Either way, I'm looking forward to both the part one & two, & the extended cuts that will soon follow.

Yeah, the gist I'm getting is you're either a fan of Snyder and will probably like this to some degree, or you're not and this won't change that.

This was originally a Star Wars film?!
Snyder pitched it to LucasFilm as a SW project set completely separate from any established canon, & ESPECIALLY away from the Skywalker Saga. This was before the ST, but LucasFilm declined it to tie the ST in with what had been established, so Snyder took it to Netflix.

Watching the trailers, you can definitely see the 'influence', in what some will call homages & others will call rip-offs. Hope that helps.

I’m gonna have to check it out

He's trying to be pretty ambitious with the whole thing. As of now, there's only a few things announced, like part one & two, with extended cuts on the way that add about an hour to each film, prequel comics, & an animated series, but there are plans for additional series for certain characters if the project is well received.

Don't quote me on this, but I remember Snyder & some of the production staff saying they have the history of this entire saga timelined out on a whiteboard in the production office. The entire thing goes about 12 feet across the board, & what is covered in the REBEL MOON part of the story is about 6 inches of it.
