I was thinking that since Indiana Jones more or less appears in fallout new vegas i'd combine him and my fallout display. What is a good price for a fedora like his (doesn't need to be super quality but at least look good) and a cheap whip? I'm just going to display these with the other props with the hat on a skull like in the game.

Dorfman is the cheapest one I know of and can be found for 20 to 40 dollars depending on where your looking just google Dorfman indy fedora and it should pop right up
as for the whip non of the cheap ones I've found come close to what the movie whip looks like although if you don't mind spending the money todds costumes has a nice one for around $70 - $100 depending on which style and length you choose plus a lot of other great Indy gear if you decide to do a full costume

yeah i was wondering maybe of adding the bag he carries all the time to the display and have something fallout related in it. Apparently in the fallout universe like ours hiding in a fridge doesn't' save you lol. i saw a few on ebay that i think had Indy labels on them so i'm thinking they were from one of the theme parks.
The Dorfman licensed hats are terrible for accuracy.

You can find the bags from several sellers online. The original bag used in the movies was a vintage WWII British bag called the MKVII. There are nice replicas out there and you can even find originals for under $50.
If you want a close to screen accurate whip, the one at www.toddscostumes.com is your best choice. For under $100 you are getting a whip that can occasionally be cracked and looks the part pretty well. He also has an Ebay store with all of his goods.

I've always recommended the Akubra Federation as a budget Indy fedora. Its very good quality and with the proper bash, it'd look perfect!

The FED is a nicely priced actual hat. You could go with Todd's Costumes for the hat and whip. His newer hats a decent, and his new whips will do the trick for the display.
You will find there are a lot of options out there. If you are primarily using the hat for display, Todd has one of his 'downtowner' Indy hats listed on Ebay for like $79 I think. That is your lowest price for a true Indy style fedora.
If you're looking to wear the hat extensively and want something that is built to last, as mentioned in previous posts, the Akubra Federation IV is your best choice.
BTW, there is currently an Ebay listing for a genuine WWII MKVII bag on Ebay for around $50.

I'm bumping this thread for a little bit of extra info...
I'm looking for a "real" Indy hat, meaning that first of all i'm looking for a hat to wear everyday. Quality is more important to me than 100% accuracy, as I want something durable that can take a beating and eventually become naturally weathered without falling apart.
I've looked around and the Akubra Federation hat seems to be the best out there for a reasonable price?

How about Adventurebilt and Penman hats? They are both handmade hats.
Adventurebilt (aka Steve Delk) made the hats for the last movie. Pricey, though.
Oh, wait. You're from France. Maybe you can get an Adventurebilt Deluxe or a Henry from Mark Kitter (Germany).

Holy moly! The AB Deluxe ranges from 600 to 700 Euros... With 8/9 months turnaround time. Geez. But this is the "Skull" version.
My favorite style is ROTLA, which is, if i'm correct, much less expensive?

Is adventurebilt still having problems fulfilling orders?

That's NOT true. They are still very much in favor. Steve Delk is a one man operation. All his hats are hand made one at a time. They are NOT mass produced factory hats. He got slammed right after it was announced that he was the hat maker for CS and his prices at the time were too cheap. Thus he got 500 orders. He has since raised his prices to be more competative and cut done on orders, but is catching up. He does state on his site there is a wait time. It's not much different than ordering a custom knife. If you can't stand the wait don't order.

Just hung up my Fed IV for the evening and wanted to +1 the recoimmendation for the Akubra hat. I wear the thing daily, and live in a temperate rain forest in British Columbia, Canada. It's held up to all of the adventurning I've put it through, and not only gets better looking every journey, but is also easy to rebash if (like me) you screw it up the first time (even after creasing the bejeezus out of my bad bash). Of course I'd love to have a Henry or AB Deluxe, but at a hundred bucks, you can't go wrong with the Akubra for a real hat. Plus, their turnaround time is great, and customer service was FANTASTIC when, through my own fault, I had to exchange my first one.
Oh, and stay FAR FAR away from the Dorfmans. I picked one up for a costume one year having read all the complaints about the hat, but thinking "what a bunch of overly critical loosers". As a real hat meant to ever be worn the hat SUCKS - bad bash, stiff, virtually impossible to reshape, and just terribly, terribly wrong in ever dimension and feature (circular brim, tapering crown, teardrop dent, wide spacing between the side dents, wrong colour, wrong ribbon...it's not even a good ToD hat, which is saying something) which would identify it as THE hat. It's almost as if DP was forbidden from looking at any reference material or seeing the films, and was just told "uh, I dunno, he wears a brown hat".
