Re: Vash's longcolt .45 scratchbuild from Trigun ! New pics pg 3
I had saved several of the bad casting attempts of the barrel of the Longcolt and while digging through my junkbox for something, realized I had most of a gun. I really wanted to make one for my best friend so I set off to build another provided I could salvage one of the casts.
In this pic, you can see how bad the end of the barrel was with the air bubbles and such

So I used the good barrel from my scratch-build and made a simple push-mold with clay. I learned this from Blind Squirrel !

I then put a little resin in the clay and set the messed up barrel in there while it cured, and to my surprise it worked !
Here I had to make a new grip from scratch as I never made a mold of the original. This time instead of using MDF, I used 1/4 " Sintra, taped together with double sided tape and cut on the scroll saw. I then shaped it with sandpaper, files, and a rotary tool.

And here is where it stands now, I still have to build a latch, drill out the chambers, and one other small piece and I'll be done with fabrication.

I am still getting a lot of feedback from people that want kits, So whenever I can afford more silicone and resin I'll give it another shot . It's not perfectly accurate, but I think it would be nice for costumes and such.
