Thanks lutso and GrenadeKing, would you believe that "steampunk" wasn't really around when these concepts were done. The George Pal Time Machine was though. The look is due to the mechanical men of the Professors Stears story needing an older feel than the Professor's technology. I was totally floored when steampunk took off.

Here is George Pal sitting in the real-prop. It was restored by a group of fans after being badly damaged.

Always been a huge fan of The Time Machine and steampunk (even before it was known as "steampunk." :lol

The restored Time Machine is in Bob Burns' collection now, isn't it? After being rescued from a thrift/pawn-type of shop if memory serves....
 
I really love the idea of finding random pieces and putting them together to make something cool.

Do you go out digging to find parts like that? If you do, where would you suggest hunting? Flea market, scrap yard, or something like estate sales?
