Rattlesnake - Kyra Rattler Revisit

Yeah, it has it's own purpose. An insert that I'm still working on. I've continued with the paint by mixing various styles used here on the boards and have finally settled on one that I like. It ended up a much darker bio than I expected. Onto painting the textured portions now . . .

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm........................................This is the huntorials and help section. like q and a or tuts. shouldnt this be posted in arsenal or over all progress?

Moderator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol :) oh and nice work on the bio.

Yeah, I kinda explained on page one what the threads purpose was. To show my progress as well as ask all the dumb questions I had under a single topic. It could easily fit into either section. :)

ok ..thank god..for a moment I thought your texture idea was to put painters tape on ...crinkle it ...then paint over it. Looks sooooo much better all cleaned up in the last pics. Now ...I think we are all ready to see what you plan on doing with the snout

The paint up looks pretty good. Like ptgreek said...spill the beans man, whats going on in the front of the bio :)

I love this bio and like the others what is with the front? Cant wait to see the finished product.
Looking GREAT!!!!!

Well, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a paint up for the details in the crown and jaw line. No matter how hard I try the P2 style copper look is just not going to work with the rest of the mask. So I'm going to continue on with what seems to already be a more subtle paint job and make the other design elements elephant grey with a black wash.
I'll have picks in the next few days.

First off hunter, your repairs are simply fa-nominal, I could never take an already sculpted bio and balance everything so symmetrically. Second I adore the design! It seems oddly reminiscent some how of Kingdom Hearts to me...but I'm going to go with the thought the snot does look like a keyhole and I've been playing for nearly six hours now. -_- That aside its still gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to seeing how your paint will bring out the textures you've painstakingly crafted here. I love what you've done with it so far though. Were you ever going to post any of the original sketches of this design?

Here's what it's now looking like with the paint nearly finished.

The texture on the crown and jawline were done with a bit of dry brushing.

Okay, well , hmmmm. I went with a suggestion I found here on the boards and clear coated my bio with krylon crystal clear satin but it has turned out waaaaaay too glossy and kinda makes the helmet look fake. Can I use a crystal clear flat over it and take the sheen off?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Krylon Satin Clear works great.
Your not suspose to use alot. Just mist it. Mist over it. Enough so that it seals the paint and enough so it doesnt look like a layer of the clear as gone on.

Anyways; You used Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear Flat?

On the satin I put two coats thinking it wouldn't change anything but it did come out like a high gloss. I did however go over with the crystal clear flat and had no problems. I'll be posting a good amount of pics tomorrow showing off the finished bio.
