Rapunzel (and Flynn)...the everlasting WIP. ( re-making bodice! )

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

This turned out so lovely! You did an excellent job on the hair :) As someone who does have past-knee-length hair, but usually wears it up in a bun, you get lots of respect from me for being able to wear that and keep it looking so great!

Best wishes!

Oh he is SO CUTE!!! ... but sooo tiny!!! 1.5inx2.3in !! I would lose him or break him within a day! @o@

That site is so awesome and bizarre... looks like witchcraft! :lol

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

that would be amazing!!!! how much were they both to order??

i bet they're going to be super useful...i should really just cave and buy them. i always procrastinate too long and then i just need the fabric! lol

You really should buy them!!! They're only a dollar each and shipping is free to Australia, so I'm sure it'd be free to Canada as well :)

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

wait...dollar each for the books or the individual swatches? what exactly did you buy??? i thought it was like $30 for the colour blanket and 5 or 10 for the swatchbook???

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Hell with the haters - you deserved to win. ;) My girls LOVE your costume, btw.

Insecurities usually manifest itself in the form of cruel critisism. Be proud of your accomplishment. Looking forward to your costume for next year!

These are the two items I got - the fabric sample pack has a swatch of each fabric and is $1, and the colour guide is a guide to all the colours and their hex codes for when it comes time to select colours, and that was only $1 as well. :) Hope that helps!

OH, wow!!! I must have either totally misread those or was thinking of the fabricondemand colour blanket! THANK YOU!

Though, keep in mind, the color guide should be considered just that, a guide...different fabrics will print the colours slightly different so ordering swatches of your designs are going to be the most cost effective way to do it ( unless you're a procrastinator like me... or just don't mind having extra fabric all over the place. LOL ).

Thanks for that!

The best disney movie in a long time. Awesome costumes...good work.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Haha yeah, I figure that even if it's only printed on one fabric though at least I'll know how a particular colour looks on one of the fabrics, which is one more than I'd know what to expect of otherwise! :)

I've given up trying to tidy my craft room between projects... it's in a constant state of "organised chaos", haha. So extra fabric doesn't bother me, and of course I'll be ordering swatches as I go as well :)

Hey, I saw this movie right before I deployed last winter. I'm a sucker for good Disney films. It was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just joined up on the forums and read through your progress thread, and gotta say, you've got some great talent. You and your boyfriend's costumes came out amazing and ya'll are spot on for the character looks.

Really can't wait to see more photos if you two do more!

Thanks all for the kind words!!!

Chugging along with my embroidery while I'm zoned out on T3's for my back ( that's Tylenol 3's, not to be confused with Terminator 3's...which is what came to mind when I wrote it. You know you spend too much time on here when... )

here's a shot.

I need to take the waistband off, add an extra panel in the back, since I realized it has 8 panels and not 7... and then I'm guessing I'll probably have to take in all of the seams to reduce some of the fullness that extra panel will add in.

LOTS of work and revisions to do still! @_@

You two really look the part! Great job on everything especially the wig :)

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Where did you get the pattern for this costume?

I made it up. :) Truthfully, I didn't actually make a pattern either. I just referenced images and illustrations of the characters on my computer and cut out pieces that matched the seams in theirs and then sewed them together and did some tailoring for fit.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Hey Aelynn, are you going to do the embroidery all the way around the bottom of the skirt? Because holy crap that's going to take a while...

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Yes I am! All of the skirt embroidery is being done by hand... time consuming, yes, but I think it's the best way to have it turn out looking like in the movie. :)

Done 2 panels out of 7! Not too bad. Just the hems though, haven't started filling in any more designs yet.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Congrats on your fantastic costume, amazingly well done!! :)
