Hair whipping pics to come when I come up with a method to combine 4 loose 150cm wigs successfully! Definitely want a ridiculously long wig..

Error...ha!!! They exist but at a much less spectacular level than yours, and the top is so fitted if I wear anything padded I get muffin boob! No good for anyone!

Congrats on the win, there Aeylnn! And that pic above...you're creeping me out how much you look like her! Double win!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

This is the first thread I've looked at the rpf in months (been really busy) and I just have to say, "Amazing"
Your work is phenomenal! So pretty!
I'm only sorry I didn't get a chance to vote for you

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Absolutely AMAZING!! Congrats on the win! (y)thumbsup I find myself turning Tangled on every time I see it on the movie channels. You are one talented girl!!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

I've not seen the movie (sorry) but you did a stellar job on the costume!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

I voted for you! Sucks about sore loosers.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Thanks, all! Very much appreciated.

I could say more, but I'll leave it at that. ;)

Doh, you should watch it! Never need a reason to watch a great Disney movie!

I should really get illustrating for the fabrics for the other dresses of hers I want to make. Oh, custom printed fabric. Why must you be so wonderful but so, SO expensive? *sigh*

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Hey aelynn, about the Spoonflower swatch books (both of fabrics and of colours) - I've ordered both, and I got my email saying they were shipped a few days ago. I don't know how long they'll take to get to Australia, but shall I let you know how useful they are when they arrive? :)

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

that would be amazing!!!! how much were they both to order??

i bet they're going to be super useful...i should really just cave and buy them. i always procrastinate too long and then i just need the fabric! lol

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Aelynn, Have you seen this site Buy Custom Printed Fabrics on Demand ? They can do custom fabric printing. I plan on using them to get my 89 Joker pants made, that plaid pattern is impossible to find.

I absolutely love this costume! Do you have Pascal yet? He steals whatever scene he is in.

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

After reading EveningArwen's post I just realized I didn't go back to see who won the contest... I had no idea there was a big ta-doo over it and that it had gotten nasty.

It was a very, very difficult contest to vote in, so many were fantastic -ultimately I voted for what made me smile and that was yours. I'm glad you won, but so sorry you had to deal with fall out. :(

Congratulations! The solution you came up with and the realization of the hair is spectacular!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

Thank you both, I appreciate the vote as well as the comments.

tk1055, I don't have a pascal yet! I wanted one that was a promo item with the BluRays sold from BestBuy but they were only available in the US and I couldnt make it there in time to get one and they sold out online fast too. Now they occasionally pop up on ebay but for a free promo item, it's pretty overpriced at $25...but I did end up getting the BluRay on ebay for 10 or 15... so it ALMOST evens out... the Disney store ones are kinda big and funny looking...though I might get one as a last resort. I think I'll have to give it a paint job and maybe some new eyes too, though. The Disney parks ones are terrifying as they're the size of baby dinosaurs. LOL I've seen a couple cosplayers have them modeled and I MIGHT try to sculpt one...but I'm not sure how well that will go over as I have very little experience in that area. Then again, I had little experience in wig making as well and it turned out pretty darn good so it might be worth a try!

Regarding fabric on demand... I've heard that they are a great site to work with and sometimes has more accurate colour results... but the biggest difference for me is that with them you have to send a giant image file, tell them what you want it to be like size-wise, they send you a thumbnail image and you're supposed to order from that.

With Spoonflower, once you upload your image, you can size it up on scales they have width and length wise to your own specifications, adjust colours and basically make it exactly how you want it and set it up how you want it to print, yourself. It's much more involved and I feel a lot safer being able to create and work with my pattern as opposed to someone else trying to scale it to the size that I need without knowing how important it is to have it to the right scale. I have had some issues with spoonflower colouring, but that's my own fault for not ordering a colour blanket first. Either way, I've been able to work with what I've had printed, with good results. Whether I dealt with it and used it anyways ( my Angelica fabric, which was slightly higher contrast than I wanted ) or had to do a dye job at home ( which is also ok 'cause then I REALLY have control of the colour ), in the end my results have been good...except for the first run of my bodice fabric in which the pattern was WAY too soft. For the record, I find the cottons are always a couple shades brighter ( light purples come out almost pink, regular yellows and bright reds come out almost neon ), but from what I've printed on the sateen and silk, the colours are pretty much perfect. Just something to keep in mind before you do some printing if you don't get a swatch book and colour blanket yourself. :)

Guri, thanks for your comments. I thought it was a fun and exciting contest and definitely was not expecting the backlash but I'm VERY glad it seems to have died down now. There were a lot of really hurtful things said, especially since I've been around here for a while, enjoy contributing, and was really NOT expecting that to happen but I've been trying to just brush it off. Hearing things like what you said make me feel proud that I made and entered what I did. So really, thank you!

Re: Rapunzel ( and Flynn ) WIP! :: Pic heavy 1st post!

a job fantastically done!

If you ever decide to part with your costume (dress) let me know, you look to be very similar in size to my daughter.

Hey there, thought I'd drop in with some first-hand knowledge of fabricondemand. They did indeed send me a super-tiny image, but I went back and forth with their (extremely patient) customer service about 30 times, with a variety of questions.

I also asked for (and received) a GIF that showed the pattern at-size. They were fantastic to work with. Also, their color book is cheap AND they have a spandex, which spoonflower does not yet have.

However, if you're super familiar with Photoshop and fiddling around with graphic programs, spoonflower's system may work perfectly for you. But don't discount the customer service angle!
