Apologies if this has already been discussed and I've missed it. Most of Randy's Avenger patterns are missing, believed stolen. Details on his site:

http://randycoopermodels.com/

He still has the main lower superstructure but if you see someone selling a Cooper "kit" with this part missing or somehow different, let Randy know! There are other ways to tell pointed out on his site.

Edit: thanks CD. Fixed this one too. My "control" key is sticky, so it mustn't have copied properly.

That really sucks. I think I know how it feels...I just found my bicycle was stolen. :cry I didn´t invest so much work into it of course as Randy did with those masters.

Sorry to hear that. :(

Yeah, it's a right evil sod of a thing. Randy's current set of moulds is quite new so he expects to be able to cast a good replacement set of masters with very little shrinkage, but if you want a "first generation" copy of this kit, order now I guess. >:-(

Yeah that sux, he's a stand up guy and doesn't deserve crap like this. He makes as reasonably priced a SS kit as you'd ever want and has always been very kind to his customers. We need to be a watch group and keep our eyes peeled for the guy out there selling these SDs. Hopefully he'll catch the bugger.

That sucks. I've never really had enough to buy a RC kit but just watching his work evolve week after week really was fascinating. Some chump probabl thought it was a complete kit they were stealing and will tray and assemble it.

Lucky he had new moulds tho.

Who the F physically goes to someones house and steals a mold

Its usually a theft of convenience. Garage door left open by accident after putting away groceries etc. Neighborhood punk, transient or in my case neighbors gardener, sees cool looking item and swipes it.

That's weird as hell! Last summer, I had a roughly studio scale Bird of Prey wing I'd started like 15 years ago go missing... Who the heck takes something like that???

You're right. It is gone.

Perhaps he has recovered it?

Not recovered,...yet.

Randy removed the article after thinking it through.
He originally posted in anger which is understandable but on reflection thought that it might be a bad idea to talk about it as he was afraid that it might somehow jeopardize future sales and possibly cause a commotion.

The patterns were not taken from his home. They were being stored at a studio he was working out of and taken while he was out of town to do some pick-up work on "Iron Man 2".

He wants everyone to know that the new patterns will be as nice or nicer than the originals as he now has an opportunity to re-engineer the way the parts were made and solve some of the fit issues the original molds had.

Still sucks though.
He has a couple of probable suspects.
I have a feeling someone this stupid will slip up eventually.
This community is too well connected, if he is smart he will never let the patterns see the light of day again.

Thanks for all the concern.

One of the things that Randy is (still) well known for out here in LA is the gorgeous BLADE RUNNER Spinner that he made and exhibited at a number of model shows. It was on display at a local hobby shop and....... yep, it disappeared. I ran into him a number of years ago and asked him about it. Never recovered it.

Sigh.....

That man can make any kit look good.

Now that's a theft that wasn't thought through very well. It would be like stealing a snapping turtle; you don't know what to feed it, it's going to bite you in the a*s, and now you're wondering what the hell you were thinking?

The person can never display it, ever, he can't really build it up, masters aren't designed to be built for the most part, especially if they were designed to be molded. It's not like it was a scratchbuild one off.

It was probably a spur of the moment thing, said person saw the box sitting there and swiped it.
