The ToyNK idol is pretty decent and can be had for less than $100. It’s a hair short compared to the real one (~1/4”) but it’s not noticeable.

What paints can I use to get a close enough crystal effect for the eyes?

Doll Eyes bjd 16 mm light brown 4 PAIRS for reborn dollfie crafts msd yosd minifee sd acrylic crafts
You could cut out the painted brown part of the eyes. Paint the gold eyes of the idol white and put the brown part over the white.
These eyes are an acrylic shell, so you might have to dremel out an area of the 3d printed eyes to fit the acrylic brown eyes into the idol.

A good method I have seen is to digitally print the eyes on 3M wrap type material, apply to the eyes and then layer with thick clear acrylic paint or similar.

Diamond select toys did a Lucas licenced money box back in 2008 the colour is not very good so it needs repainting but it is full size of close too it and was only £9.99 when I brought mine when it first came out and you do still see them for sale eBay from time to time the last one I saw on there was £15.50 plus £4.95 p&p about 7 or so months ago,if you check out my Indiana Jones costume post from August 13th 2019 you will see and photo of me holding mine repainted and with old teddy bear eyes added hope this helps and good luck in finding one.

I've printed one. for what it is (free) it's pretty good. i had to slice mine in to fit on the printer. painting with gold spray isn't very convincing, so i'm planning to smooth it a bit then gold-leaf it.
I'm not sure the model you printed is the one you linked, the mouth is quite different. Are you sure it wasn't this one?

probably, there's a few on there.
XTC-3D works ok on smooth areas, but it can fill in the details you want to keep along with the build lines.
...just part of the problem with 3D prints, I guess.

What's the best way to make a display base that looks like the stone base it sat on in the movie? Foam??
There's a couple on eBay that look pretty good. I'm gonna get one next week. Price is about 50.
