Racing champions buying Revell?

I heard from a good friend today who works in upper management at Revell that Racing Champions has it's tentacles out to Revell for a takeover. it seems that Racing Champions is hell bent to destroy the modeling industry to push their die cast crap.......They bought Ertl.....which is disappearing, only cars are left. They bought Polar lights......when Polar lights was in the middle of producing 1/350 starships....Polar lights is gone. What's next. Are they truly the evil empire? If you buy Racing champions stuff you might be nailing the coffin on another company. :angry

At least Lindberg is staging a HUGE comback this year. They have a Visible T-Rex and Visible Grey Alien slated for release this year.

From what I've read on other forums, the prevalent rumor is that RC2/AMT/Ertl will be discontinuing all plastic model kits after 2007, and production of their die cast lines will be severely curtailed; something about the increased costs of the zinc used in the production of their die-cast collectibles. If this is true, I can't see them pursuing Revell only to shut down production and warehouse all of those molds.

I *like* the Revell die cast models. I've been waiting 17 years for them to make a 1:18 VW Corrado, and they FINALLY made one this year... Now if they'd just make a Mk4 R32, I'd be stoked.
