R2D2 sound effects for my R2 droid project

Hello, Gang.
I am currently working on my R2 droid, about 3 or 4 months into the project, and I have been looking all over the internet for some great R2D2 sound effects. I heard about a group of builders in Canada that made their own CD, which they gave to all of their members (about 10 or 12 years ago), and I was also told about a R2 droid board, where you need to be "reviewed" before they will let you in, that has some good R2D2 sounds. I have searched all over the net, but only comeup with poorly recorded MP3s, taken directly from the film, or even sounding like they recorded it with a mike, directly from the TV! (Yikes)
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many Thanks, William

Yeah, I have several sounds kit. If you want the best of the best, I have one module that is not listed on my site. It is an uber sound kit though (price reflecting) for RC droids. It has even been used in the real movie R2. :thumbsup

THANKS, guys, that is great! I'm really impressed by the fellow who build his own R2D2 and C3P0 from scratch! Carved out the wood, and did it totally from nothing, MOST impressive!
Hyperdyne, I cannot get into the members area, as I have not been "Validated" by a mod yet. I put in my registration last week, and was hoping that someone would get to it within a day or so. I can see the "Files" area in the Members area, but I need to be validate for that, unless I'm looking in the wrong area.
Also, is it true about the Canada CD? Is it really a clean copy, and how would I go about getting a copy?

Thanks again, William

William! good to see a fellow builder in Ohio! Good luck with your project.

I must also recommend Hyperdyne. Really great products. People whine about the prices, but you know what? you get what you pay for. Great stuff with great service.

As for droid sounds, you are already on the right path. They are all there, just be patient for your access. The astromech.net website is pretty much THE destination website for R2 builders.

Here's a faq I wrote a while back that may have some points of interest for you on your quest:

Thanks Matt!

William, you will get access - it just takes a bit of time.

If it turns out that you need the sounds sooner rather than later, shoot me an email and I can zip up the sounds I have. I have cleaned many of them up.

I'm not seeing that you even signed up? You sure you're at astromech.net/com or on the yahoo r2builders? Either way...give it a shot again.

Thanks,

Hey, THANKS ALOT, people! That R2D2 translation page is GREAT! alot of fun to play with. I will go over to the Yahoo groups and sign up again, and will also go to the Astromech site you mentioned. I will sign up on both, see what happens. Thanks for all your good advice and assistance.

William

Okay, I resigned up with both, and the Astromech.net let me right in, no problems. But the Yahoo group said that I would get an email once the Mods verified me, so we will see.
Now, since I am working with some really horrible copies of the R2D2 blueprints and I enlarged them a couple of times to get the approximate correct size, I really need to get something a little more accurate, something with some CM measurements or something like that. If someone can point me in the correct direction. I really would hate to go any further on this project, and then have to scrap everything and go back to square one, if you know what I mean.

Thanks again, William

I know it has been said a few times already but all you seek is on Astromech.net and the Yahoo group :lol. You are going to be blown away when you see the amount of research and work that the members have put into making accurate blueprints and parts for the other fellow Droid builders.

The plans are available for download from the Yahoo group.

Hey, Thanks for all the good advise and assistance. I have found some VERY nice blueprints done by "Jag" (THANKS, Jag!!!)
And I have found a couple of nice R2 sounds along the way. Now if someone at YAHOO would validate my entrance to the groups over there, I would be all set!

Okay, I have been signed into Astromech, and I have gotten to look at all the archive files, but I don't see any sound files anywhere. Can someone help?
Thanks, William

This is perfect. This is why I found this site. On Sept 18th were have an animatronics event with R2D2 & C3PO and Actor Neil Patrick Harris is our host. Neil will be communicating with them on stage. I needed some audio for both of them. Im making a script that Neil & them will follow ... Thanks for the info!
