Questions About Bond Films that You Have been Afraid to Ask SPOILERS

I was reading an interesting thread at AJB that said each Bond tends to have one over the top movie - It def. made me think. Connery had YOLT, Moore had Moonraker, Lazenby had OHMSS :lol, Dalton had License to Kill (weak example), and Brosnan had DAD. Rumor has it Craig's next Bond film takes place on the sun.

Conner def. has YOLT (and DAF). Moore has Moonraker and quite frankly a few of his other entries as well. Brosnan def. has DAD as well as TWINE really....

Lazenby and Dalton though, nothing over the top I don`t think. No lasers from space, just good solid films. LTK may have been over the top violent in comparison to the other films but it`s RIGHT on the pulse of the brutality in the novels. Also one of the most down to earth stories.

If he had stuck around for a couple more I think he could have been quite good. In OHMSS he`s GREAT in the action scenes but has yet to become comfortable in the role of Bond. Really, he`s doing his best Connery impression.

OHMSS is one of my fav. Bond films though. It`s almost scene for scene true to the book and the entire cast does a great job.

Also, aside from that last scene there's nothing against the grain about it (not to mention it's true to the character anyway because he gets married in the book).

Also, True about off the clock, but I was referring to the desertion of LTK and how he almost gets his ass shot by Mi6. "Too many people!" Love that line.

I tend to think Bond has a gambit of personality traits, but its almost like each actor emphasizes one more than the others - Connery and his masculinity, Moore and his wit, Dalton and Bond's coldness, Brosnan and his class, and Craig's emotion. I felt Lazenby's trait was Bond's arrogance. His words just roll of his tongue. I liked that a lot. That caviar scene is one of my favorites. Sure it might have been because Lazenby was an arrogant ******* in real life, but it worked.

Agree with everything except Moore. As a big fan of the literary character I can assure you that Moore's version of Bond's "wit" is so far removed from the character it's not even recognizable. Moore is just a series of punchlines, Bond isn't AT ALL.

Easily the closest to the true character was Dalton. That said Connery is my favourite Bond.

Really? In OHMSS he sleeps with loads of women back to back! He even starts lining them up in his schedule before he's found out. :lol

Grey area I think. At no point (prior to their time in the barn) does Bond ever say that he's committed to her. She even mentions to her father that he isn't. They're just dating so it's all good.

He could have been talking about another agent. I really would have liked to have seen Lazenby get at least one more Bond film. He really wasn't that bad.

Not really although Wes' "other agent" kinda sorta fits. Just a nod to acknowledge it's a new actor.

Me too. There are shots with him and Jill St. John (they dated for a while when they were slated to star together in DAF) and it looks "right". Could have been good.
