Question about nylon/lycra catsuits ( Catwoman cosplayers, I'm talkin to you )

Hi, I'm trying to figure out what I can and can't do with a catsuit like this one:
Custom Catsuit by Suzi Fox in Black Wet Look Nylon/Lycra - custom made by Suzi Fox at www.LiquidVinylClothing.com

My hope is that I can:
1. Have it sub for a leather catsuit since it will be (slightly) less expensive and will better hug the curves of the female model we're using.
2. Sew some velcro onto it and have it not fall apart, as well as supporting the weight of some items.

More on #2:
I'm going to use this as a female judge outfit (Judge Dredd) and I would need to sew some velcro onto the shoulders to support the shoulder pieces. They're rubber-type pieces and not incredibly heavy (and some of the weight goes down on the shoulders) but it is still going to pull at the outfit a little.

Here is the male version of what I'm planning (this one was on leather). I've included a pic of the jacket since I was planning to sew velcro pieces like these onto the catsuit to hold the various costume pieces in place.

How sturdy are these cat suits? Do we think this will work?

Hmmm... I normally wear latex for cat woman but this fabric is thin, stretchy and not heavy. I have other suits of this fabric and its very light. Have you thought of a catsuit made of neoprene? Its used it wetsuits, its stronger but hot yet fitted. Just a thought.
if you go to a womens clothing store they normally have leggings in this material for faux leather tights, or go to a material shop where you can feel and see the fabric to get an idea without committing dollars.

Basically if I was doing this costume I would go with what you've planned - Id at least try it, Id just like the sexiness. Id attach the velcro to an area that wasn't under high strain or stretch, and while experimenting might even do a little patch of reinforcing stretch fabric - you do discover these issues as you go. id use a stretch stitch on my machine to reduce strain and use my walker foot for puckering unless I hand stitched. I would experiment with some fabric Id buy at a fabric shop first. A thing I would worry about is the armour piece not sitting how I wanted .......

Those are just some thoughts, but a custom female leather outfit that was very fitted with soft leather would be really good. Good luck and I hope some ladies with sewing skills can help!
I found a link theres a photo of a female version who seems to have use leather as well.

Thanks for your expert input. I don't sew, so testing this stuff out properly like you suggest could be tricky. I was hoping to just take it some place and have them sew the velcro patches on once I have the suit.
Maybe I'll buy one of the cheap milanoo suits and try that out.

I had thought of neoprene, but I've heard it's VERY hot. Much hotter than wearing leather. Is that true? This is for wearing at Comic-Con and I know from experience that wearing the leather is very hot as it is.

Thanks for the pics of the female judge. I'm familiar with those outfits. They did a great job. But I was going to try for something a bit more form-fitting with this female judge.
Soft leather may be the way to go in the end, I was just hoping to save a bit of money and get something that can hug the curves even more.
Not to mention that sizing when ordering a leather cat suit online can be even trickier since leather doesn't stretch as much as the other stuff and can be less forgiving on size discrepancies.
