PVC Predator VS the Creature from the Black Lagoon dio WIP.

Hi Guy's,

Francis Gray here AKA Joker-Laugh. I have been a RPF lurker for a few weeks now and I thought I would jump in and join the crazy gang ;)

Some of you on here will know me already or may have already seen some of my past work. Anyway let's cut a long story short and get to the PVC dio.

Hi Guy's,

This is a primed and ready for paint kitbash model dio of a Predator hunting the Creature from the Black Lagoon. You rarely see these two iconic creatures together but I always liked the idea after I seen a model called Splish Splash which had the two creatures fighting in the water (basically two busts fighting on a water base)

SPLISH SPLASH MODEL:
SplishSplash_zpsf2276826.jpg

Well I loved it so much I decided to kitbash my own version so I got a Narin AVP model and I already had a Horizon Creature Lagoon model that broke due to an accident.....

It took some work grinding off the two aliens and filling out the base to mimic the water and I cut my Horizon Creature in half and placed him in the same spot where the main Alien is bursting out from the water below.

I also had a damaged Mcfarlane Sleepy Hollow toy base with loads of good looking twisted tree's and branches etc, I cut some off and glued them to parts of the base I thought would look the most interesting.

I will be painting this up and then I will add a 5mm topping of clear resin to give the water a see through element and then I will be adding various plant and leaves to mimic the jungle base.

I will add updates as I go if people are interested :D

Many Thanks, Francis.

Thanks for the support guys

O.K first update

I spent the day laying on some base colours that will be shaded and brybrushed with lighter coats to highlight the details later.

I started highlighting the rocky base and coated the branches with a dark brown. I then gave the Pred two coats of flesh colour for his undercoat skin and I painted his sword blade black so when I paint on the silver, it will take and look much better than just regular painting on silver.

Thanks for the reply Division 6 ;) I was starting to think people could not post on here. Glad you like it so far.

O.k guy's I am going to add a few updates but if there is no buzz, I'm just going to let this topic drop and get lost due to no interest.

O.K 1st update.

Next I added some branch highlights with drybrushing and then some green tone marks for a jungle contrast.

PVCampWolfie019_zps304fc999.jpg

Then I added some scenic green scatter to mimic moss in all the little nucks n crannies.

Up Next, I will start playing the undertone green for the creature.

This is so cool. Can't wait seeing it being finished. Good that you get to use your broken figure.

Great idea expertly carried out! Excellent work!

Weather I post or not I always look at anything Creech related.:D
Not as many figure kit folks here, more hardware types but don't let that discourage you.

I must ask very nicely here, please keep updating this. The work is unreal, I could never hope to produce something like this but it's fantastic to be able to log in and see the updates.

My hat goes off to you good sir

Thanks very much for the support guys, I'll add some more updates soon, Maybe later tonight even.

Usually I'm not that bothered about replies but when you see over 250 people have viewed the topic and not one could be bothered to reply, It makes you think that people do not like it and you are wasting your time uploading updates etc.

Now I know there are people here who would like to see the dio's progress, I will gladly post more updates as I go.

Don't think no reply's or comments mean that no-one is interested in your work. Some people like what they see but just don't post a "great work" reply.

Cheers guy's,

O.K a big update for you all

I gave the creature a lot more shading and painted on the belly, eye's and webbed hands etc and I gave the base a murky muddy wet paintjob.

Next, I added the vines and jungle plants and glued them down using regular superglue.

First I added a Lego supportive wall that connects all around the dio.

PVCampWolfie080_zps7724e29d.jpg

Then I added the modeling clay around the edges of the dio to form a makeshift wall for the liquid resin to form to.

PVCampWolfie092_zpsfefc7b96.jpg

PVCampWolfie094_zps5e2582f6.jpg

Then I got my water effects liquid resin and heated it up in a old pan so it turn's into a clear liquid. Then I poured the liquid into the middle of the dio and made sure it went into all the little nooks n crannies.

The clear resin has been poured into the makeshift mold to hopefully take the form of the base itself. Now I have to leave it to harden overnight so here is to hoping it turned out o.k :wacko

PVCampWolfie004_zpsecf1e5aa.jpg

I then added water ripple marks with a hot knife around the creature to mimic motion in the water.

PVCampWolfie015_zps4fdddc96.jpg

Then I bridged the seam line between the clear resin and the model's base using regular Pollyfiller adhesive.

Once dry, I gave the base walls a coat of light brown to mimic a muddy water feel and most important, to cover up the seam line.

PVCampWolfie036_zps1e7b0524.jpg

Once dry I then added some regular scenic grass scatter to the nooks and crannies of the base to mimic water algie...... Once dry, I gave the whole water part of the base a coat of gloss clear varnish (algie and creature included).
