Proton pack using arduino uno with wave shield

So I'm working on a kids sized proton pack for my son's birthday. Here is what we have been able to build so far.

Everything has moved along pretty smoothly with the project until we got to the lights and sounds on the project. We used martinus from gbfans.com plans and code http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22758&start=30 for our electronics. Is there anyone here with any experience in programming an arduino uno with the wave shield from adafruit?
If so you will help make a little super fans birthday.
