Hello,

I need to arrange to borrow/rent a proton pack for an event to be held Feb. 19th in the Chicago area.

The pack will only need to be used for an hour or so that evening.

It's part of a skit for a social gathering at a large military history convention. http://reenactorfest.com/

I can get you free admission to the ball and to the event for the whole weekend if you can help me out.

It's a great show to pick up all kinds of original or reproduction military items that are used in all kinds of movie/tv show impressions.

Please contact me ASAP if you can help.

Thanks for reading!

The main problem you're going to encounter, is people unwilling to lend their packs out due to the somewhat fragile nature of prop. Being so big and with so many elements on them, they are prone to damage in places with large public gatherings, that isn't to say that it's a guarantee they'd be damaged, but it's a strong likelihood... and the second is even if there is someone willing to take their Pack to the event you want to have one at, they'll likely not be happy letting someone who has never worn a Pack before wear theirs. They require a certain level of respect from the person who is going to wear it.

Would it not be possible to use one of the cheap inflatable ones instead?

Points taken. However there will be no rough housing in the skit, which itself will be 20 minutes at most. It will not be worn at any point while socializing at the event, strictly for the skit, in and out. We are an experienced crew that has used packs before. We aren't just going in there with 4 GBs and 1 pack after all.

This is a professional event and the skit is being used to promote ticket sales of another convention, so no an inflatable pack would not work.

You would have to find someone in the Chicago area as well because shipping a pack isn't really an option because, survey says???

They are too fragile to ship.

Good luck though with your event.
